Laurie-WOW! You must have hit your losing time. I am so like you. I will stay the same for weeks (2 or 3) and then lose a good chunk. I am going through that right now. I just go up and down a pound or so. Must be patient and stick with it.

Thanks for the encouragement, Dina, Tyler and Grace! Yep, mtiger, I'm with you. I just have to remember that it is indeed worth it to stay on plan when I go through the droughts. I had popcorn at the movie theater last night (I usually insist my husband not get it, but I feel guilty about that after a while), so I wasn't brave enough to weigh this morning, even though I also ran 3 miles and swam 1 mile. Even when I know a 2 or 3 pound gain is fluid retention, it still messes with my head. So, though I don't know if I gained, I'm afraid I did, so I'll stay on plan today, drink my water, and hope for the best tomorrow. The popcorn was so not worth it, but it won't be the last bad choice I make. Hopefully, the good choices will fix my bad choice.

I am up a pound this morning from Saturday morning. Sad, but not devestating. My kids have a snow day, which means my older daughter can watch my 4YO while I go to the gym, so I might add an extra cardio session today to make up for my not-good Saturday night. Love this challenge! It keeps me on my toes! |

So, my start was 161... went to 159 (also decided to stick with new br scale vs the one at work).
trying so hard, recording kcals, hangin' with my treadmill, drinking 3 cups of water right b4 bed so scale can look better in the am---- well 157 today!! now to keep it off... and keep losing.... everyone, I really enjoy reading the updates. I feel like we are in the same boat. thanks!!! |

I thought I had this competition won, but not so much...
I am still hanging at 166. I ran six miles yesterday, and shoveled my walk and my nieghbor's walk three times, AND was within my food yesterday (including the very virtuous act of not even tasting the SEVEN boxes of Harry and David's candy and cookies a client sent to me yesterday), but I got less than three hours of not-very-good sleep, which always messes with my weight loss. So - I'm hanging tough, though it was 166.0, compared with 166.4 yesterday morning. Woo hoo! I guess. At least it's in the right direction. |

Ahhh... I'm up .1 from my challenge start weight!! Daily weigh ins are a bad idea and I know it -- but somehow I can't resist stepping on the scale every single morning! I'm a total scale addict. Is there therapy for this???

Dang you guys I was sure someone would win by now! I was in the last one but decided to not join this one due to health issues, I was sure someone would have won by now lol! Oh well I am not losing much either but am excited to see who wins so I can try really hard next one!

Watch out, Kittycat. I still think I can win this one! I am back down to 165, so only one pound to go. Still mad that I didn't get more of a drop from my 6-mile run on Monday, but it is what it is. I plan on running four miles today - AND get some sleep - so Edzard, looks like you might be joining us on our next challenge soon (hopefully). And Tyler - still looking forward to seeing you join us in Onederland. Such a nice place to be! I still can't believe that I not only got here, but have stayed here for seven months!

I'm still sitting at 2.4 pounds down. I'm amazed the scale hasn't budged. I'm expecting a big drop at some point before my weekly weigh-in on Monday morning because I have been COMPLETELY on-plan with both meals and exercise. But I guess I'll have to wait a little longer to see it on the scale!

I don't know if we've got a winner yet. We'll have to wait until KittyCat checks in - or maybe a dark horse in the race - 'cuz it ain't me.
I'm up one-fifth of a pound from yesterday. Sad, too, 'cuz I not only ran my four miles, but I walked about three miles last night to see if I could kick the scale down a little bit - and my food was within range as well. My legs are pretty sore, though, so that might be the reason the scale is not cooperating. And I'm looking at pulling an all-nighter to meet a deadline of tomorrow morning, too, so it's not looking good for tomorrow, either. Oh well. This challenge has been good at helping me stay focused and on plan. That's what it's all about, right? |
Ok...I have to accept that this just isn't my best challenge ever! :tantrum: I started off strong..lost a pound and then gained it back. And since then nothing has happened! I'm soooo close to my first mini-goal but my body just won't let go of the last 2 lbs!

Congrats Josephine on your loss! No, I'm not a vegetarian but I am Orthodox Christian and we practice lenting throughout various times of the year where we basically go mostly vegan.
Ok all, I think I'm going to have to drop out of this challenge because I feel that I need to lay off the scale for a while (it makes me crazy!) and this challenge pretty much requires a daily weigh-in. I'll keep checking to see who wins..... I'm rooting for you guys!!!!!! |

still at 157. actually doing my best to keep it at 157. Dang, losing weight is really so flipping hard!! This is the first time I've spent more than two hours being careful with what I eat(in about 2 1/2 years). So, languishing at my highest weight ever was understandable. Now, though have my daily plate congratulating me for charting kcal for 16 days and I've been exercising 3-4x/week I CANNOT move the numbers down! Ok, I have made some progress, but it seems my body wants to stay chubby. UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH |
Gracenote -- the daily weigh-ins can seriously make you crazy, can't they! I totally get that!
Kitty -- You're doing great, sometimes the scale is a little behind in reflecting the work that you're putting in... then suddenly you get a big drop! Hang in there, you've been rockin' it! |
I didn't weigh in this morning because I didn't sleep much, and I knew that I wouldn't have a loss, and especially when I'm tired, that will really mess with my mind. I'm almost done with my grant application, though, so I will get some sleep tonight, and then I will check in. I'm not expecting good news, though, so this might be between Josephine and KittyCat now! KittyCat - I've heard that when you're losing the last twenty or thirty pounds are the hardest to let go. You're doing the right thing, though, and it is bound to pay off eventually!

girls-- 156.5 this am! .5 away from goal. so glad to know my scale is not stuck! You know, I was thin for quite a while.... never thought I'd be overjoyed at 156.5. But, such as it is. On the same note, I grew up in NY. Recently my husband (DH?) and I were returning from a long car trip with our four very young sons. When we saw the NJ sign (where I now reside) we rejoiced. Life brings all sorts of surprises! :) :) :) have a good morning all. |
