i tend to wake up in the middle of the night and i cant sleep again unless i munch on something first. and im also can't wake up late so i end up needing to nap in the middle of the day after i eat and right after i sleep i eat again and feel bad and go to sleep. how can i change this habit? thanks

Do you suffer from anxiety? Sometimes I have to get up in the middle of the night to eat because of stress, and eating makes me relax enough to go back to sleep. Could this be you too?

You can try replacing eating with journalling, reading, knitting, or anything that will keep you busy and not eat. Changing habits are hard but you can do it by starting slow.

My doctor prescribed me Xanax, and it helps some. I dont take it everynight, but only on the nights after a most stressful day.

I feel my chest tighten and I have problems taking deep breaths. I know this is the #1 reason I overeat, period. Its my drug of choice. Ive often thought of taking up smoking or drinking to ease the pain, but I know that is as stupid as choosing to overeat. I really dont know what else could help us to relax except eating and prescribed drugs. I really hate being this way, too.

Have you seen a doctor? This is a real condition and not about eating. Eating is just the fix to a much bigger problem, and there are better "fixes" out there that are better for your health.

Good luck. Let me know what happens.
Heidi
