Diets work wonderfully....

....If you dont have an eating disorder. I've tried everything in the world short of surgery and they've all been successfull, until I start bingeing and eating compulsively....then up goes the scale, even higher than when I started.

Jenny Craig, Atkins, South Beach, Hypnosis, pills, restricting calories. Heh :carrot:

Here's to the beginning of the end of all of the above :D and having chemistry with and a knowledeable therapist :cp:

I know! That is what I always say! If I didn't have BE/COE, this would be an absolute breeze. I'm delaying the inevitable, but I know one day I'll have to muster up the courage to begin therapy, or I'll be battling in the war for the rest of my life.

I wish I could get my psychiatrist to help out more with my eating disorder. :( I don't think people place enough emphasis on eating disorders that are a result of some psychological problem. It's great getting help with my depressive disorders, but if I'm being "kept alive" just so I can eat myself to death, the purpose is sort of defeated.

I only started losing weight once I'd done lots of inner work. Once I had sorted out the past and learnt to love myself the losing weight bit has been the obvious next step. I'd really recommend counselling or just lots of inner work. Personally I found exploring my spirituality far more use than therapy because it gave me the sense that I DID have some control over my own life and therefore had a responsibility to exercise that control.

It doesn't mean that the urge to binge goes away but it doesn't shriek at you, it just whispers and ignoring a whisper is a lot easier! At the moment I'm finding the diet pretty easy as I have a different attitude to it.

Hope this helps.

Coley, I agree. We often neglect our "spiritual side", whatever that may be. Thanks for the reminder. :)

all my therapist says (well she is a pyschiatrist and internist) is that excersise will help the symptoms of bulimia becuase it makes me feel in control of my body. Bull s**t... helps for about 5 minutes and then ive forgotten and feel crappy and go eat half a jar of peanutbutter.

Just a guess, but I think it's binge eating disorder/compulsive over eating.
