May there be no blizzard where you are today!
  • hey guys!
30 minutes of cardio and stength training today (starting out small)
  • I did my Crunch Gym's "Fat Burning Yoga" dvd last night (Sara Ivanhoe) (41 minutes). This is the hardest (for me) of the three yoga dvds that I own. I managed to do most of the moves. I have a very hard time with some of the back bend stuff, I just am not very flexible! But I am getting better and deeper into a lot of the other holds/moves!

I agree with you, Dancing Angel, bring on spring weather! Yesterday and today it was only about 25 degrees in the morning. It is supposed to get up to 48 today, but I don't believe it.

Kristen - start off small, and keep at it! You are exercising, and that is what is important.

  • Hello, and happy Friday! Although it's been a busy one here at work for me -- the phone has barely stopped. However, I sense a weekend close at hand!

Welcome, Kristen, and keep up the great work. Consistancy is the most important thing, so you start at the beginning and go from there!

Fishwoman, 41 minutes of yoga sounds fearsome to me. I've never developed a liking for it, yet I know it's great for you. I take it in little bits, tucked within videos that feature a variety of styles. Maybe one day I'll find I really enjoy it.

Today was 60 minutes of step aerobics for me. Rather complex choreography -- this was the one where I fell on my butt the first time I did it (still hurts a tad bit). But on this, my second time through, I can see that this one will be one of my favorites.
    January 1 -- 45 minutes
    January 2 -- 60 minutes

    January 4 -- 51 minutes

    January 25 -- 54 minutes
    January 26 -- 50 minutes
    January 27 -- 60 minutes

    Have a feelin' good weekend!
  • Dancing Angel - there are two reasons I do yoga.

The main reason is that I *HATE* weight-lifting, and I have read several articles that say you can substitute yoga for weight-lifting exercises. It supposedly is not as fat-burning as weights, but provides the same benefits for your bones and muscles. The other reason is that I don't ever stretch when I do cardio, and yoga helps me get stretching and flexibility into my workouts.

Ideally, I would do cardio 4x/weekly and yoga 3x/weekly. As you can see below, sometimes things get jumbled up!

I need to get more cardio videos - I have a hard time with the complicated routines though. For example - My gym has this great step class on Saturdays, but I don't go to it because i went twice and felt stupid and uncoordinated. I can do just the foot moving, but all the twirling and matching hands mixes me up .
  • Good morning - just catching up from the weekend. Friday and Saturday I did the elliptical for 40 minutes each day. Sunday I did 40 minutes on the elliptical plus a 36 minute yoga dvd.

  • Hello! Fishwoman, you mentioned feeling klutzy while doing step. I LOVE doing step aerobics. It's really not any harder than regular aerobics, but is just more intense. You might look into Gilad's Step Aerobics workout. It's a wonderful workout with very basic moves, great instruction and wonderful scenery, including the Hawaiian beach and the hunky instructor! Very easy to follow.

To catch up on my weekend through this morning, I was a Firm believer over the weekend. I did their Super Cardio workout on Saturday for 60 minutes and the Time Crunch workout on Sunday -- 42 minutes. And this morning I did step aerobics for 54 minutes. Here's my January:

Tomorrow ends the first month of this year! (And not a blizzard has come my way -- gotta love Nebraska in January this year) Have a great remainder of the month!
  • This morning I did a butt-kicking workout from Tracie Long Training called Strength for Endurance. Man, do I have room for improvement! It was 60 minutes that just flew by. It's mostly strength with weights, stability ball and, believe it or not, paper plates, with some high impact cardio thrown in from time to time. Fun, and I had to order some more workouts from her.

Okay, time for the tah-dah!!!! as we reveal the total for the month. I haven't seen it yet, but we'll add in today's and see where we fall.
