Get the RIGHT cravings.
If you're like me.. you get triggered into a craving just by the slightest thing. Like reading the word 'yogurt' makes me want yogurt 9 times out of 10. So, here.. I hope this helps you out as much as it does me. Its usually my desktop background..

oh my, that lemon pepper salmon plate looks AWESOME. definitely triggered a craving for it. only problem is... where do i get the recipe for something like that?!?!!
ok, so now you've got me craving some good stuff (that salad looks pretty good, too!). :soap: but why is it that the bad for you stuff is always cheaper/more convenient (i already know how to make all the bad stuff! :D ) have you noticed how we are bombarded by the bad for you foods? i mean, its on tv, in the magazines, on billboards, in advertisements.... :p also, i was at the store today, and grapes were $2.39/lb (!), but the powdered sugar donuts on the display not an arms length away were only .99 for a dozen. how terrible is it that it comes down to... can you AFFORD to eat properly? the bell peppers were $2.99/lb for the red ones, and the green one's were on sale for 1.99/lb. i mean, of course i skipped over the donuts... i AM a virtuous eater, after all. :D but really, though. it really stinks that its cheaper for me to buy my daughter a dozen donuts than a few handfuls of grapes. blah. :soap: well, anyway. rant over. i'm going to try to find me a recipe that looks like the veggies in that salmon dish! |
You're right!
That's funny - I never thought about it. The salad and the fruit look great!
Thanks! :) |
Wow, those are beautiful!
Shaley, you're right...junk food generally is cheaper than "real" food, and much easier to pop into one's mouth. Even fresh produce, which can be eaten raw, must be refrigerated, whereas you can keep a Cup O'Noodles in the cupboard for four years waiting for you. Junk food is cheap mainly because 1. we've refined the most-used components to incredibly cheap "foods" to make (refined sugar and white flour); and 2. it keeps for a very, very, very long time and therefore must have some "thrust" to make it move off the shelf more quickly. Cheapness fulfills that function. The high amount of salt and sugars in refined foods have an addictive quality, which is why you really CAN'T have just one (fill in the blank: potato chip, handful of popcorn, "standard" serving of cereal or ice cream--who the heck eats half a cup of ice cream?). So trigger our cravings instantaneously. It's hard--it's us against the Bad Foods--but we just have to hang in there! Your pictures definitely help because, well, YUM. Thanks for posting them! |
Mmmmm... those are so pretty! Thanks for the inspiration! :)

mmmmmmmmm.......
They all look good to me! I know it may seem silly, but I try to make my dinner plate "look pretty" too! Makes the meal seem like it was made by a spa chef and I eat slowly and enjoy it all! |
