The Happy and Grateful Thread!!

This is something we started doing in Alternachicks... posting the little things (and big!) in our lives that make us smile, give us a boost, or help us to get through the day.
It's easy to look at the bad stuff and dwell on it. Unfortunately it often tends to overwhelm us, and we can't see the good.
I have so much to be thankful for. I think we all do.

I'll start. :)

I'm grateful for:

- coffee, and the fact that I had enough beans to get me through the day :D
- the fact that my mouse only needed new batteries. I thought it was dead.
- remembering to stock up on batteries last week.
- my dear husband, who will be home shortly with a Friday night movie.
- the fact that payday was yesterday. PHEW!!!
- my wonderful children... they are everything to me
- I've almost made it through two days OP! A freakin' miracle!! :hat:
- having such good memories of my Dad.

I'm going to keep adding to this ... jump in with your happy and gratefuls, girls! (and guys?)

Ah, Ellis, what a GREAT idea! :grouphug:

You made me laugh with your batteries. :D

A book I read had a character who thanked God for something each night before she went to bed. I started trying it and it really helps me center my thoughts before I sleep. :)

Things I am super grateful for:
  • Amazing family and friends who manage to keep me close across the miles
  • The beauty of spring
  • The sun that came out today
  • That it's Friday and I get to spend the evening unencumbered with the man that I love
  • That we have medical insurance and I have two great doctors helping me with my depression issues
  • That we belong to a fantastic church where I feel accepted
  • My coworkers and how they make each day fun
  • Making it this far in my weight-loss journey
  • The ability to stay home when I'm done with school and regroup
  • Books and wonderful writers...oh and libraries, since I'm poor!
  • Being able to like vegetables...
  • Our furkids and the ways they show me that they love me.
  • The chance to garden this weekend
  • That winter is over! (I hope... :crossed: )

Thanks, Ellis! :goodvibes:

I am very grateful, espically today, for God working wonders in my life (making stress "poof" go away today)

I'm grateful for a dear friend I'm seeing today. We're having lunch, and I'm praying like crazy that there'll be something OP on the menu for me. :( But I AM grateful for this friendship. She's such a loving, nurturing friend. :)

My sponsor suggested and encouraged me to write 3 things daily that I am grateful for. One has to be about me. So I want to share what I was grateful for yesterday:
1) The Rain (don't have to water the garden)
2) Light Trafiic (allowed me to be home in time to get to my son's karate ceremony)
3) Awareness of Anger (wow! awareness before knee-jerk reaction...yep, I'm progressing)

I am thankful:

That I have the Lord Jesus Christ as my Savior and my strength.

For my wonderful husband who has dealt with the emotional and weight roller coasters that come with PCOS and Eating Disorders and continues to encourage and support me.

That I have found this website and especially the Eating Disorder Support section. :grouphug:

That there are people out there who really do understand.

That my hope has been renewed.

For my 2 doggies who love me no matter what.

That, even though we can't have a baby right now, I know that God will bless us with children one day.
"But if we hope for what we do not see, with perseverance we wait eagerly for it." Rom 8:25

......and that I'm gonna be an auntie in October! :cloud9: I can't wait to see her beautiful face....she will be the sunshine through my rain.

My vacation that starts one week, one hour and 43 minutes from now. :dancer:

That today is Friday.

I love reading these... your gratefuls are so beautiful. :) Thanks for sharing, girls. :grouphug:

I'm grateful for my DH, who just gave me a back scratch in the middle of the night.
Although I'm having trouble sleeping tonight, I'm grateful for being able to come down and sit at the computer for some quiet time.
I'm grateful for my children, who obviously didn't make it up to bed with DH last night. DD is asleep on the chaise lounge in the living room, and DS is asleep on the couch in the tv room. They're both fully clothed with unbrushed teeth, and are surrounded by empty wrappers, bowls of chips, and dirty dishes.
I'm grateful that someone filled the brita last night, because I am SO thirsty!! :)

Hi Mandi! Welcome!

I'm once again feeling so grateful for OA. The first time someone said "Welcome Home" i wasn't feeling it, but now I do feel I have come home. I'm grateful for how God uses it, and answers my questions and concerns about it. I had told Him I was willing to give it up, no matter how great I think it is, if it's contrary to His word. So far He has answered all of my concerns clearly.

ellis 05-21-2005 08:29 AM

Cacky, when I went back to bed early this morning, I dreamed that you'd posted and told me how to clean my kids up and get them to bed in a timely fashion. :lol3:
