I really need help.

I really need help. I am a 25 y o woman living in Scotland who has been bulemic since I was 4. I have been overweight since early childhood and despite being a vegitartian since that age and unable to eat dairy the drs were unable to pinpoint a cause for my weight problem. I started to get help for the bulemia in Nov last year (which has so far consisted of 2 visits to a "psycological" dietician and a promise of a referal to an eating disorder specialist that has yet to surface), but I had a wake up call the first visit I made to the dietician and have myself been able to go from 282 lbs to 234 lbs in 6 months. My problem is that I never anticipated the excess skin and I am really scared. I know my skin will take 5-10 y to "snap back" (or so my dr has told me), but I have been told by lots of other sources that it will not because i've been so overweight for so long. I'm not naive, i don't wanna be "perfect", but I wanna be normal. I am trying to find out about achieving reconstructive/plastic surgery on the NHS here in the UK after massive weightloss. I would like to hear from anyone who's been there or who knows the legalities of it, cause my dr just dances around the topic when I aproach it and changes the subject. It's this simple,If I'm fat i wanna be dead, and the idea of being thin but just a mess of skin and yuck I'd rather be dead. I feel like I can't win, and my life feels like he price I'm paying. Can anyone help. I can't possibly aford the ops privately. If anyone has advice, please post it here for me.

Also, any ideas about tackling strech marks?

Thank you,

Alyson xxxx

Alyson, there's a GREAT thread here about surgery. You're not alone, and there's nothing to be ashamed of. :grouphug: I'm sorry I don't have any info for you regarding the options in Scotland.

My Dr. also said he would not even consider anything for the loose skin until I can maintain a weight for a year. Welcome. You are not alone! Please join us on our daily thread for recovery, experience, strength, and hope.
