I don't want to trade one for the other

So today is day 5 of cold turkey, no more cigarettes. The cravings are getting much easier since the second day. But unfortunately instead of having a cigarette I've been binging. The other day it was candy, last night it was cornbread muffins. Which is worse? Smoking or binging? What can I do to stop binging? I don't want to start smoking again (and start withdrawal all over again) and I'm trying to be easy on myself, but am I being too easy on myself? I expected that I'd gain a little from this but I don't want to use that as a license to go nuts.

Concentrate on the smoking, try to make your bingeing the low calorie kind. Take one thing at a time.
I quit smoking before I got serious about dieting. I am not at all sorry I quit smoking.

I agree; focus on one thing at a time. Cut yourself some slack on the food, but I'd try to only keep good-for-you snacky things around. It's easier to recover from a baby carrot binge, know what I mean?

I do have some baby carrots in the fridge. The candy and the corn bread were just really accessible. I don't even like candy that much. (Can't say the same for corn bread :T)

I can go all day without needed a cigarette. It's not until evening that the cravings kick in. It's like once I get dinner in me I want a cigarette worse than anything. I don't feel it as strongly after lunch.
