Me once again

Me again. I binged. :( I was doing really well and someone sent me a bag of snickers bars and I thought one wouldn't hurt. Next thing I know one turned into the entire bag of 18.....

Here's whats killing me. I don't get why I did it. I wasn't hungry! It was like I was testing myself to see how I would react. I wasn't depressed when i started eating or anything. I just started, and thats what most of my binges are like. It's like I am daring myself or something...... It's just so frustrating.... The weight won't go down... after three serious binges this week I am not surprisingly up a few pounds. I've been religious in the gym, Careful about planning my meals, then I pull some **** like this and it's like I just ruined an entire month of work. Every good week: the needle on the scale doesn't budge, then a week like this and it shoots up 5 pounds. :(

Aww hun it sounds like a serious trigger food. I have been there and still do it all the time. I don't know why I do it. While eating it, it seems like I loose myself. I numb up the part of me that is trying to say STOP. I have no ideas how to stop it.
I'm learning to pretty much stay the heck away from foods that I will stuff myself with. When I'm working out I have noticed I'm way more hunger and WANT the stuff I don't need. Trying to train myself to go for the protein shake or apple slices with some warm peanut butter over it.
It's not easy and your not alone.

First of all, congrats on sticking to an exercise plan! :D It seems like you generally have a handle on meals and exercise, which is great. Those are great life changes.

Onto the binge topic, this was a slip, but don't let it get you down forever. Take it as a bump in the road, and move onto preventing the next binge. It seems that you have difficulty with portion size, which is something I struggle with as well. It makes it so that I can't keep anything in my dorm that has the potential to set off the trail of food. Which means absolutely no chips or candy, because when I have one, I will have another. I don't know your living situation, but keep lots of fruit and vegetables handy. When you need something sweet to chew on, go for an apple.

And try not to get too focused on the scale. Many people get tied to that number, and it really fluctuates due to time of month, water retention due to muscle building, and who knows what else. This is a lifestyle choice, so it's good to get comfortable with it now and focus on other milestones too, like inches lost, miles you are able to run, or weights you are able to lift. ** Like the person above, who has a mile ticker in her signature.

Don't get disheartened! Keep up your good habits, beat back your bad, and know that it might take a while, but it's worth it.

I have also had trouble with binging in the past. The only way I can control them is to completely get rid of any trigger foods. (Mainly sweet or salty snacks). I have been known to take food and throw it in the garbage and mess it up to the point where I can't take it back out and eat it. If you know what your trigger foods are, my advice would be to avoid them at all costs.
