I am NOT going to binge tonight!

I'm putting this out there to prevent myself from emotional eating.

Today's been a bad day and then the straw that broke the camel's back? Yesterday I threw a whole chicken in the oven and cooked it, which normally lasts our family for almost an entire week. I came home from work today and was looking all over the fridge for it. Turns out I left it in the oven overnight!  I wish this was a one time deal but this has happened 2-3 times in the last couple of weeks! I TRY to plan ahead and then it bites me in the butt because I forget to put food away. So then I end up waiting time and money.

Add to it that now we don't have any food in the house for dinner! I did have enough for DD (she's going to bed soon so a grocery store run isn't an option) and a bit for me. Once DH gets home from work I can run to the store and pick up a few things.

I really just want to eat crap because 1. I'm hungry and 2. I'm really upset with myself (and annoyed with the bad day in general). I'm putting this out there so I don't do that! I ate some frozen veggies to tide me over but I'm someone who really needs protein to tide my over (and we're out of eggs too, UGH!).

I think what's absolutely awesome about this whole thing is that you came here to post and didn't shove food in your face! I have struggled with binging/overeating/undereating... And it's so easy to get caught in that cycle. But you came here instead! That's a huge NSV in my opinion because it's doing something different when the same feeling/urge arises. It's hard for me too when I am upset or having a bad day because my defenses are down and I am tired. It seems like you have a good plan of going to the store when DH comes home and getting what you need. Until then, hang out here, post, paint your fingernails, anything to avoid binging. Hugs!

I also think it's great that you posted here. I also have a problem with binge eating and I know there are times when I'm more at risk of losing it than other times. The fact that you're aware of it is a huge bonus and gives you more power over the binge monster (what I affectionately call it). I think it's good to have back up food in the freezer for such occasions. Make a meal or even a hearty soup and freeze it. Another suggestion is beans. Buy them in bulk and they're fairly inexpensive but the problem is that you gotta soak them in water overnight or they take even longer to cook (unless you have a pressure cooker...I have one, but it scares me to use it). ;)

I don't really have any good advice here. Just do the best you can and try to survive this night. For me, it helps to leave the kitchen area and go upstairs. I also like to chew gum or drink hot tea.

Thanks so much for the support! DD ended up not eating all her food so I had some of that and we do have a lot of fruit/veggies so I had some of that and added a lot of pepper sauce because hot food tends to decrease my appetite. I also made a cup of coffee, which again, suppresses my appetite. I'm still pretty hungry but I think there won't be a problem until DH comes.

I was really close to start just eating bread or making chocolate milk or something but I actually have a visit to my nutritionist tomorrow and that really made me stop and think instead of going crazy.

Now I'm trying to think what I'm going to pick up from the store. ;)
