It has been so liberating to realize that it doesn't have to be punishment--that in fact, punishment is nowhere near as effective as encouragement.

Heck, this sounds almost exactly where I get right before I give up. It's easier for me to restrict and say I can't have something than it is to say I choose not to. Cause dang, I'd choose to have something bad for me if I really wanted to ;)

It's all about trying to find the right mindset for me and right now I'm of course enthusiastic and happy.. and I want that to LAST!

Perhaps you want to reconsider what "results" means.
At some point, you would anticipate that you'll be maintaining. The "results" of maintaining are keeping your weight within a narrow margin. I've seen it said other places on this forum that once you've lost that first pound and keep it off, you're maintaining. Perhaps "results" that are defined not just in terms of how many pounds you lost this week and overall, but how many pounds you're maintaining off, how many days you stuck to your plan, how many new on-plan recipes you've made, how many new foods you've discovered, etc. could be included in your definition of results.

I was a lot like this. I was totally complacent in my lifestyle, but I had the love and absolute acceptance of a husband who can't manage to see my outsides. He could only see WHO I am, which in a way, made things worse because there was even less motivation. He told me constantly how he found me sexy and beautiful. It wasn't until my weight actually started taking a toll on my health that I started to realize what I NEEDED to do. I was diagnosed with both insulin resistance and osteo arthritis in December, and my husband was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes. We have 2 little girls, and would both like to be around to see them grow up. My husband's not really on the same level of healthy eating that I am, but he's definately changed his eating habits to a lower sugar, lower carb lifestyle that he was living. I have gone hardcore. It didn't end up being my self confidence that made me change, it was my drive to stay alive and stay well and mobile.

And I am seeing results in just a few days. Having so much weight to lose, it's coming off fast right now, which helps with the motivation.

I hope you can find something that will get and keep you motivated before you start having health issues caused by being overweight!!

This is really hard. I don't know many people who decide to lose weight for no other reason than just because they think they should. Most people I know do it because they HAVE to (disease or health issues) or they somehow stumble upon the golden ticket...and the light bulb finally goes on. I really don't want to sound negative, but if you are not all the interested in doing it, I don't see it happening.

What makes you think any of this will happen? I never had a plateau in a whole 190 pound loss, I never stalled out until I made it happen with maintaince. I'm not too sure what accidentally cheating is all about, but I decided not to cheat, so there were no accidents. When I did finally did have a planned "cheat" I knew full well what I was doing! ;)

The thing is, regardless if you are OCD, or not interested, or are interested...anyone can lose weight unless they have some funky metabolic dysfunction. The only way to do it is to DO IT. Push all the negative babble out and put one foot in front of the other and get it done. You can worry about all the psychological crud later.

I wish you the very best. I hope things work out for you.
