Don't be judgmental or negative, just look at the words you use to convince yourself and what words might work to slow down the impulse.

I sat outside a grocery store once, at 1 am, with my kitchen timer and made myself wait 25 minutes before going in. I realized how crazy my behavior was and went home. The more times you are able to stop the event, the more you gain confidence in your ABILITY to make a decision and that it isn't as out of control as you once thought.

This is such a good idea!

I am in the process of beating my fast food addiction. I quit McDonalds as my new years resolution and I havent had it since December 30th 2009. I do occasionally go to other fast food joints but I find myself looking for a healthier alternative because what is the point of quitting McDonalds and eating a burger at Wendy's right? I felt so much better about a month after I quit because eating that crap bloats you up ect. After about 6 months I was even able to sit in the car while everyone else ate it and to be honest instead of craving it like I used to it made me feel nausious.
