Making myself sick

  • ok............so I never thought I'd admit this to anyone EVER!

but i signed up to this website today thinking this would be it, I was going to change, but..........yet again I've had a major binge...........and made my self sick until there was no more (sorry too much info really!)

anyone got any tips to stop myself doing this?

    thanks in advance
  • Have you ever tried couseling or group therapy? I'm not really qualified to give you any answers, just a hug and tell you to keep on trying and get extra help if you need it. The issue probably isn't really food, but you use food as your way to deal with other things.

  • Lexi: I think counseling and medication would help. I am a bulimic and I take Zoloft and Topamax for the binging and it seems to work; plus I see a therapist every three weeks. There are other medications that can be used. Talk to your doctor. There isn't a need to suffer.

    Prayers are being sent.

  • I also just wanted to offer hugs and support to you.
  • Awww thanks everyone. I dont do it often, maybe once a month.

The strange thing is nothinh triggered it, today - no stress, no anxiety, no nothing.....very strange!

Hopefully with support from this site I can stop doing it.
  • Lexi - I am going to reiterate what others have said in that it sounds like you need help with someone who knows how to treat eating disorders. Although we can offer you support, help for purging is really outside of the scope of this website.

Have you looked into counseling? Do you have counseling services available?
  • I'm a recovering binge eater and I can hear your pain. For me, I sought help via: inpatient treatment (dropped out), day program, and outpatient therapy and meds. What was most helpful was the day program. I got to hang out with other women with eating disorders. I was the only overweight one there - the rest of the women were anorexic or bulimic, but I felt accepted.

When you said that you "only" purge once a month, I think you haven't really grasped that you have a serious, life-threatening problem. Check into some sort of program and maybe you'll realize how your eating disorder effects your daily life.

I can't say that I am completely healed, but when I have a binge, I no longer shame myself. I simply throw the food wrappers away and carry on with my life.

I hope you find something that works for you and keep posting
  • have you tried OA? It has helped me. Blessings, Sheila
