OMG, super touched!

  • So last night my friends and I decided we wanted to go get some Greek food... which is just out of this world where we are! I was really torn though...

I always get a pita kipfillet (grilled chicken breast pita with all sorts of veggies). But, adding fries are just 1.50e more, and they have OUTSTANDING fries. And it takes my feel-good meal to the "ugh, why did I do that" stage. And I knew that even if I didn't get fries, they would offer to share theirs (meaning well, because we always have each others' backs as far as money, food, etc...well, I didn't know just how much they had my back!)

I order my meal - just the pita - without fries. Friend #1 congratulates me -- and then orders her meal without fries! Friend #2 orders - no fries. Friend #3 orders - no fries!!

I asked them why, and they said, "Because you're doing so great and we wanted to help make it easier!"

I AM SO TOUCHED! I loved every last bite of that pita and the walk we all took afterward. I couldn't believe it!! Yay for supportive friends!
  • WOW!! You've got fantastic friends!!
  • That is so sweet! It takes a good friend to give up fries!
  • Your friends are super terrific!!!! You must really mean a lot to them. I wish everyone had friends like that.
  • Awe, that is great. So you stayed on track, and your friends helped you do it. It's great to have that kind of support system. You're really lucky to have such great friends.

I know from personal experience that it is hard to watch other people eat the food you would love to eat. I am a french fry addict. Every time my parents eat french fries it takes all the strength I can muster up not to eat them. They just leave the fries out sitting on the table or stove like it's nothing. I guess I should mention to them how much it bothers me and makes it hard to stay on plan. It would help if they would just put them away in the fridge where I don't see them right when I come in.
  • I wanna hang out with you and your friends! I love greek food, but you're right, those fries really screw it up. It's hard to not get them. Way to go with the healthy choices and great friends!
  • fries are my FAVORITE & you're lucky to have friends who are so supportive!
  • Now I'm reviewing all my friendships mentally:

Given the choice between me & some really well-made fries, what choice would each of my friends make?

Ummmm .... depends on whether I'd been talking too much about going to the gym during the conversation preceding giving our orders. My friends have a way of letting me know when I'm being tediously single-minded.

Seriously, good for you, for having such excellent support. Those weren't just words. Those were actions. You've gotta love them for it.
  • WOW that's fantastic. Congrats!
