sick and tired

God I'm so sick of this. Binged at work last night. It was horrible. Nobody even brought any goodies yet I found anything I could eat. For no reason at all. If I tried to add up all the calories I probably went 3000 over what I should've taken in for the day. My stomach just keeps getting bigger and bigger and I keep on feeling more and more disgusting. ugh hate this

As hard as it is, try not to beat yourself up about it today. Try to make today DAY 1 and earn it! Then move onto Day 2 and 3 ... You can do this... we are here to help!

Well, it looks like your height weight ratio is fine and your bmi is within normal. Maybe you are trying to become "underweight" and your body is struggling against it?

Thanks for the support happy.
And giselley...yeah I know. I'm not even technically considered to be overweight yet and the reason I'm not is because I still workout 4-5 times a week. But even with doing that I still managed to gain 10-15lbs and I am just not comfortable in my body AT ALL. Plus I know this bingeing problem I've developed just isn't normal. I know everything I should be doing...everything I should be eating. But get some cookies or chocolate or peanut butter in front of me and most of the time I lose it and go completely out of control. Other times it doesn't bother me and I can go days without bingeing. I don't understand it.

Dugserb, I was underweight when I started binging and gained 80lbs over the course of 4 years. I hate when people say, "Oh you're thin/normal, you can eat!" Binging is not normal at all, and as you've learned, you can gain weight even if you're exercising. Overeating sometimes, yes, that's normal. I'm sorry you're struggling with this, I hope you're able to find the strength to overcome in.

Thanks Lizzie. I'm tempted to think...oh when I'm done with school in a year I'll start seeing a personal trainer and dietician or something. But by then who knows, I might be 20-25 pounds overweight and that scares me. I'm actually going to see a therapist for the first time at the school counseling center to finally talk with someone and see what their take on it is. I know I won't get an easy answer...but any advice and help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again

 I'm sorry you're struggling with this. I can totally relate. I am technically at a "normal" BMI (although I was obese most of my life) but my food obsessions and eating behaviors are NOT normal.

Have you ever considered OA? I felt such relief to discover that I am not alone. I am still working on a solution but the fellowship of people who "understand" my food issues and who have found relief from food obsessions/compulsive food behaviors is incredibly helpful

duqserb, I feel your frustration because I have the same problem. I'm sure you've heard this before, but it's important to identify the feelings you have before a binge. Do you know what sets you off? Knowing might not eliminate the problem, but it might decrease the binges to an extent.

For example, I know that if I don't sleep enough, am not losing weight fast enough, am stressed about things I can't control, am sick with a cold/flu or one of my kids is sick, or if I eat out with friends where I can't control my food as well, I end up being "at risk" for a binge. It doesn't mean I will binge, but I am at a much higher risk of doing it.

Now that I have identified my emotional triggers (along with my food triggers), I know I"m at risk and I end up asking for help (my hubby) or I force myself away from the situation or I come to this site to post, etc.

Since I've started doing this, I have greatly decreased my binges but I still haven't been able to eliminate them completely.

For example, just last week, my son was sick and didn't go to school for the entire week so I didn't go to the gym. I was also sleep deprived and I ended up binge eating for 3 days. During that time, I put on 5 lbs. , but this was last week and since then, I've dropped those 5 lbs. and I'm even a bit lower than where I started. Just pick yourself up and get back on track. The fact that you work out is excellent! I also workout a lot....about 5 to 7 days a week. Most of the time, it's about 6 days a week though. I do it mostly for stress relief.

Best of luck.
