I also like the idea of working on a fitness goal. Focusing on fitness tends to keep me from binging.

Also have you ever thought about seeing a therapist? Just for someone to talk to about why it takes 110% of your effort to not binge, they may be able to give you insight and help you see why you do the things you do. It has helped me tremendously. BTW I'm not talking about getting to the root of deep issues I'm just talking about getting a different perspective. I happen to go to a non profit place that takes patients on a sliding scale because money is an issue for me. Maybe it will help!

Yes thanks for the suggestions. I do see a therapist and I am unfortunately tackling the deep issues. It's wonderfully beneficial to me but it comes with the incidental side effect of rampant emotions all the time. Dealing with my issues means that I have to address them and bring them to the surface and very often it makes me feel out of control. I have been struggling with bingeing since I was a teenager and have only been trying to get better for a few months. I'm really proud of myself, I've worked really hard. But sometimes my hard work and the results don't seem to match evenly and my instinct to turn to food for comfort is not easy to ignore.

I'm doing as you suggested as well, focusing on the exercise. I'm lucky that I enjoy exercise and have time to do it, and I love the way it makes me feel. I'm trying to ignore the scale a little bit and not get discouraged but I'm sure you understand how hard that is.

It's a nice day today, I think I'll go for a walk now.
