I don't really know if this is the right place, but I just had to share this little victory of mine...
I work in an office with a large number of middle-aged men who like free food. There's almost always some free-lunch set-up in one of the conference rooms for the bakery workers (there's a massive bakery below our offices) and the various guys in the offices, as well as pizza whenever there's a meeting, so maintaining total control over my temptations is difficult (I only bring a PB&J sandwich to work with me and don't keep dollar bills so I'm not tempted to use the vending machine). It's also difficult that my company makes numerous sweets, like danishes and donuts, which are always floating around.
Yesterday my department went to a sports bar for dinner as a little Christmas celebration. I knew this would be a problem! We ordered appetizers, which I indulged slightly in, but there were 7 of us, so it helped to have to share. But when the entrees came it was mind-boggling! The portions were HUGE!! There was a MASSIVE pile of mashed potatoes on my plate and three - count them, THREE small chicken breasts on my plate (slathered with artichokes and sauce), as well as a pile of green beans. I was terrified!
We all know how hard it is to avoid eating food that's right in front of you, but I told myself that I would not eat more than one chicken breasts - that I would eat all the green beans and feel full. For once I managed to resist! I got a box for the leftovers, but I also avoided the desserts that everyone ordered (I ordered a shot of Bailey's Irish Cream for my "dessert")... it was terrible!
I know my struggles are small compared to many others', but I'm finally determined to kick myself into gear. I'm really determined, this time, to lose this weight, no matter how little it is, and these little victories make me happy. Thanks for letting me share.
Please share with me some of your little victories. I always enjoy reading what others accomplish!
