After class snacking?
I go to night classes that end around 8-9pm. I eat supper around 5:30 and then when I get home I have snackS. I just can't seem to stop eating. I'm just always hungry. I never have this problem during the day. Only at night. I can eat right up until I go to bed and not get full. Then I will get stomach aches and not be able to sleep. It really bothers me because this just started happening and I have all night classes nex semester. Sometimes I can stop it and soemtimes I don't even thin about it and I just eat. Does anyone have anyone suggestions how to stop it or reasons why this is happening?
Thanks.:) |
I'm a snacker too! What works for me is drinking water. If you REALLY want to snack - have a drink of water first before anything. If you're still craving a snack, have something that's filling (high volume, high fiber, low calorie). If water doesn't curb your appetite, try having a low calorie drink. I know that sometimes works better for me because I'm more craving flavor than anything else. If none of those things help, try going to be sooner, lol. HTH

i find changing routine really helps with snacking, also figgetting.. if that makes sence. instead of sitting thinking about food, i make myself get up and do somthing like wash up, or check my email, and it makes me forgett i wanted somthing.
i also just think about how unhealthy it is so eat before bed, because u dont burn what you eat, so it has more chance to sit in nasty places on your body and turn into fat, maybe not scientifially correct, but its certainly putting me off at times. my boyf gets the same hunger pains, so i have tried to get him to have weetabix or ready brek, as bb suggested, oaty or wheety, is good for making u feel satisfied on low calories. good luck, or u could come on here and post about being hungry :-) |
I think evening is a deadly time for a lot of us, though I'm not sure exactly why. Earlier this year, I more or less gave up evening snacking .... I used to curl up in front of the TV with a bowl of rice cakes, popcorn, goldfish crackers etc., pretty much every evening. It wasn't usually terrible stuff (OK, sometimes it was cookies or ice cream, but usually not), but the calories in that starchy stuff do add up. So I quit it cold turkey, and MAN was it hard at first. I was going to bed early just so I would stop wishing I could have something to munch on. This went on for several weeks, but it did eventually get easier.
Now, as a rule, I don't snack after supper, and thankfully, it's not that difficult anymore, it's pretty automatic, most of the time. If I am well and truly hungry (not just feeling munchie), I will have a snack (trying to learn to listen to my body), but I stay away from starchy stuff, as I tend to munch mindlessly on it, and don't want to lapse back into the habit. I'll have some frozen grapes or an apple or something, maybe some l.f. yoghurt. Often, I'll just brew up a big pot of green tea, and sip on it throughout the evening. Oh, and I've stopped parking my butt beside my husband's in front of the TV. If there is a show I really like, I'll watch, but it was too easy to just sit and watch it because it was on. If I don't truly like the show, I'll go and do something else, because TV watching and munching are too inter-related for me. |
