Intuitive Eating

Don't know if we're allowed to talk about books on here, if not I apologize, but....

Has anyone read the book Intuitive Eating? I'm finding it to be a great read. I know some of us on here were talking about swearing off diets or an anti-diet group and this book is basically the anti-diet bible. Its scary-I wonder if I can do some of the stuff (don't eliminate any food, honor your hunger, banish diets forever)...but, it is written by two excellent R.D.s and really touches on things no other book has...I've so far had a pretty decent week applying some of the principles....just wanted to see if anyone has heard of this book or tried anything with it! Have a great Friday! :dizzy:

There's a whole thread about intuitive eating actually but I can't remember where it is. Its somewhere on this site. All the people on it are working with that principle. I've tried to adapt some of it too. I think there is also a sticky about books in this area as well I think.

Great that you have found something that speaks to you! I checked that book out at indigo last time i was there. It seemed pretty good.

I am a regular on the IE thread. I read Intuitive eating and it is pretty much what I practice. I think the book we all found most helpful was the overfed head.

Here is the link the thread we all post on.

I haven't read that particular book, but it's what I aspire to. Now, however, I'm imposing a little more structure (a la Bob Greene). I read a good book in the same vein, called "Diets Don't Work" - it's kind of a book/workbook combined, and I took a lot from it, about listening to your body, eating when hungry, not banishing any food, etc. I've looked for the IE book at Chapters, but haven't found it. Does anyone remember the names of the authors?

I love the IE book, and the Overfed Head. My mom introduced me to the IE principles and I really believe in them. Practicing it is a little harder, but it is definitely something to shoot for. Ahhh, normal eating, what a brilliant idea!
