Check out this chart!!!

http://www.1is2fat.com/weight_chart.htm

this is so depressing. It says I'd be a healthy weight (I'm 5'9) at 130 and apparently my goal weight of 150 is moderately overweight!!!!

Is this chart pretty much on target for you all? I need to set some new goals if this is right!

I would think this would be more realistic as it takes your frame size into consideration.

Lacey, I dont think you are reading it right. 5'9 @ 150 is a healthy weight.

What chart are you using? I am only 5'5" and all charts that I have checked say that my weight can go up to 150 and still be within healthy range.

Ok at one point I had worries about those ridiculous charts so I asked my DR. what his opinion was on it and he said that they are really outdated and that they need to come up with new ones, cause most people dont come close to what they are supposed to weigh. If you look good and feel good, what does it matter?

How depressing that after loosing as much as I have, I still need to loose 65 more to be in a "normal" weight range. But on the bright side, I'm closer than I was when I started last Fall, and I'm no longer morbidly obese, just fat LOL

I think there is something strange about the chart. If you look at it closely it has "healthy weight" and then "moderately overweight" in the same gray area. But if you look closely at it, there is a heavier dark line that ends within the moderately overweight area. I think if you trace an imaginary line from the top of the chart where that heavier line ends to the lower end of the heavier line at the bottom part, you find your "moderately overweight" area doesn't cover your goal weight. It looks to me like it is saying that anything from 130 to 160 would be healthy weight for someone 5'9".

It is like you need to divide that light gray area in half. The white area is for underweight. So I agree that you aren't reading the chart correctly.

However, that having been said, I think that the chart would be more accurate if it took into consideration your age, your gender, and your frame size. It is rather generic and with that grey area not divided so that you can actually understand that is what they mean, it looks even more inaccurate.

LOL OMG Tenn! I remember when I went from Obese to just fat. It was a total day of celebration. But dont worry about it ladies, charts arent going to determine anything. You will know when you are truly happy with yourself, no chart will tell you that.

I totally agree that we will all know when we are healthy and happy. NO chart will determine it for me.

Toss the chart in the trash. Find a healthy weight that you feel comfortable being at, that your doctor says is OK and that you can maintain. Don't get unrealistic with something that will be impossible to maintain.

I am 5'7 and my doctor set my weight loss goal at 150. I go by the BMI chart that says at 159 I am considered "normal" weight. My BMI at 159 is only 25 which is great for me (considering it was 36 to start with). I have set my own personal goal for 145 to try to get a little lower than what the doctor wanted, but am considering increasing it to 150 as I don't really see much fat that I still want to lose, except on belly. My butt and Legs have all but disappeared. I am wearing a size 4 jeans but size 12 shirt, but have DD's so don't expect shirt size to go down much. I remember the happy feeling when I was no longer obese and then again when I just recently went from over-weight to normal. These are huge milestones.
