Default Hello.. I am new here...

Hello everyone,
Well I have been thinking about the Atkins Plan and I have been doing some research and I think I can do this but I have some questions. First is during the induction phase is there a certain amount of carbs that you are allowed to have? Also is there a list of foods somewhere that I can follow so I know what I can eat during the induction. Any info would be awesome.
TIA
Shannon

Hi Shannon - welcome!

Atkin's phase one says no more than 20 grams of carbs, and that includes your vegetable intake. Here is a link for atkin's phases, and rules. You can also print out the induction food list, which comes in handy for shopping.

http://www.atkins.com/articles/atkins-phases

One thing to remember is, for some people 20 grams is to high. That refers to myself, and surely a few others here. I can't seem to take in more than 10 - 15 total, so it's something you will play by ear as you get more into the diet. It's easy to get discouraged, but if you remember that it is flexable in the sense that if you start to stall on the loss, there are things you can do to get going again.

Be sure to have all temptations out of the house if you can. I can't since I have kids, but I have been good and not cheated.

Good luck! Utalize this group to your advantage. These ladies really do make this adventure a lot easier!

Hi there,
Thanks for the info. I have kids also so I know about temptation. But I think I can do it. I am going to start on Monday, since this weekend is my anniversary & we have plans to go out and celebrate. I really like this site, everyone seems very helpful. So wish me luck and I'l keep you posted on my progress.
Thanks Shannon

Shannon
Having kids DOES make it a little more of a challenge with them having fruits and some snacks on our no-no list in the house....but it IS doable!! Just remember YOU CAN DO THIS!!

Thanks for the welcome ladies. Well I did do WW and my kids were really good about all the stuff. They would make sure I didn't cheat or go over any points. They would not eat their fun stuff in front of me. I am really looking forward to doing this. I think it will work for me.
