Help with Wonton skins/wraps

  • So yah I send DH out to find me some wonton skins, I love crab rangoon, had some at a restraunt the other day, then came home and found a reciepe online, so I send him out to find me wonton skins/wraps..

he searches from store to store, finally he finds what he thinks they are at a smiths here in town in the produce isle and brings them home..

they do not say wonton skins or wonton wraps or wonton anything..they say pasta wraps and have 31 carbs!

now when I looked up my crab rangoon at the restraunt online in their nutrition information it said like 4 or 5 carbs..
and most reciepes I see online for crab rangoon say about 4-5 carbs..

so I am utterly confused..these things he brought home do look like little round wonton wraps, but they do not say wonton on the package and they have ALOT of carbs so I just dont see how these could be the same thing

if they are not the same thing..what *names* of grocery stores do you guys find wonton wraps/skins at? I live in a semi small town, I live near Reno, nv I am not sure if it has a asian food store or not, I dont get there real often, but I could maybe go next weekend.
here in town we have a smiths, safeway, albertsons, ralleys, and walmart
walmart, smiths and safeway do not have them
anyone ever buy them at albertons or ralleys?

I even searched for buying the things online..lol couldnt find them

    HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLP

is there another name for them?

    I am so confused!
  • usually in the produce part of the grocery stores..where things like fresh ginger are.
  • I happen to have a package of Melissa's won ton wraps and the label says:

    Serving size: 4 sheets
    75 calories
18 total carbs (less than one carb each fiber and sugar)

These are standard wonton skins, are extremely thin and are about 3 inches square.
  • Hi Nirvanagirl, Safeway has wonton skins in the produce isle too. Here, they keep them right in the main long cold counter, along with the lettuce and carrots.
  • I buy them in a local store in town called G and G. I don't think they are a chain, at all so that isn't going to help you. The brand I have is called "Menlo" and they aren't for wontons, but for egg rolls (larger) and they are 8 grams of carb each. They keep them in a cooler with tofu and other types of wraps.

This is a store that has all sorts of Asian, and Italian and other ethnic foods. It is kind of special for that reason, but it is a large grocery store and I do most of my shopping there.

Asian people have a thing about "best quality" and so I know that by shopping there I'm getting good products.
  • ...
our Safeway said they used to carry them but dont anymore..

man I have looked up and down the produce isles and can not find them, I wonder if its cause I am in a small town.

Oh well, next time I go to reno I will just have to go on a mission
  • I do want to thank everyone for all their responses though!
