Low carb treats

So what are your favorite "treats" that you allow yourself to have?

Lately for me it is berry smoothies. Particularly blueberry. I buy frozen berries, put some in a blender, throw a bunch of ice in there, pour in some water. Then I put Torani (splenda) syrup on it. I have three flavors of the Torani, Vanilla, English Tofee, and Caramel. So I pick one or two and put some in there for sweetening and flavor. Then a little low carb ice cream or regular cream. Blend it all together and then drink it or eat it with a spoon.

Blueberries are very very good for your eyes, they help with eye strain and night vision.

I don't know the carb count. I suppose whatever the berries are and the cream is about it. I don't think liquid Splenda syrup has any carbs.

This is just enough of a treat that it keeps me away from the illegal stuff and it doesn't seem to interfere with weight loss.

Well berries are low carb, according to Dr Atkins. They have lots of seeds and fiber in them that help with regularity. But if you have foresworn all fruit including berries, then you can do the same sort of smoothy, minus the fruit using some unsweetened cocoa powder instead. This way you get like a chocolate milk shake minus the milk (using cream and ice instead).

Ok where did my post go??? I know PP uses a berry mixture as they are filled with fiber and Protien powder and makes a nutricious smoothie out of that. it is full of anti oxidents that it is more healthy than not.

I actually like the Atkins brand chocolates. So I will occasionally have those if I can find ones that are gluten free as well.

I also love sugar free Jell-O with a ton of spray whipped cream. I've been known to just spray the whipped cream in my mouth too.

Then I also like a slice of ham, turkey or roast beef spread with chive flavored cream cheese, rolled up and cut into bites.

Macadamia nuts are good. As well as cubes of cheese.

Celery and cream cheese. Melted Brie you eat with a spoon.

I have ground up chicken liver and made my own pate.

But I have to admit that my favorite snack is bacon. I love bacon.

Havarti cheese! and Rondele garlic and herb... mmm.

There is also a type of chocolate that I was getting at Long's drugs called Guylian. It was "no sugar added" and pretty low in carbs (if you didn't eat too much) and it was imported from Beligium. Very creamy and yummy. Can't seem to find it right now.

There is a chocolate bar that they have at Walmart that I'm afraid to even buy. It is low carb, white chocolate with raspberry filling. Buy enough of them and you might as well forget that you are even trying to diet. But occasionally doesn't hurt (assuming you can keep it to occasional).

I really have to discipline myself not to do this kind of stuff too often though, because after awhile you might as well not be on a diet if you keep eating the way you used to, (just because it is low carb doesn't mean it is good for you).

Love celery stuff w/a cream cheese & gorgonzola mixture
Pork rinds with an herbed sour cream dip
Deviled eggs (although I'm getting a little burned out on them)
Green olives
cheesecake bites

I bought a book called 500 Low-Carb Recipes. It has some amazing (but time consuming) recipes in it. There is a recipe for Zucchini-carrot cake that is to die for. A few years ago I made their pumpkin pie for Christmas and it was a big hit. That Christmas I had a full low carb Christmas because I was pregnant and absolutely had to keep my carbs fairly low to maintain my pregnancy. I have pcos and type II diabetes. I made low carb stuffing and everything. I didn't even tell anyone they were eating low carb. They just kept coming back for more.

I tried making smoothies with frozen fruit but it didnt taste right, does yours taste ok? anyway, I allow myself to have anything I want but it has to be in a small portion. My favorite was a peanut buster parfait. I do buy low fat ice cream though.

yes it is yummy. I use blueberries mostly because my herb book talks about dark colored berries (bilberry, blueberry etc) being very good for your eyes.

I add ice and water and Torani splenda syrup. Plus some cream for a milky taste. I don't know what you mean by "taste right" but they are good.

I'm really weird. I love to eat mild cheddar cheese and dip it in mustard. I've done it since I was a kid.
