Default Difference between atkins and low carb..

I am just on low carb eating 20 carbs a day or less. Now I am not sure about all the rules of atkins but I hear eventually you start to introduce new carbs in to the diet upping your intake little by little (could be wrong). But say I stayed forever just eating 20 carbs or less a day...would my weight loss be faster? Would it be a healthy thing to do? I am not sure what would happen if I simply never up my carbs. OR should I lower my carbs even more? Heh, I'm a newbie not a pro yet like all of you out there! LOL.

The best thing to do would be to read the atkins book. In his book, in the induction phase, there are many carbs to avoid.

I have been in induction (20 carbs or less) since I started and plan to stay there until I reach goal.... (the only food exception I have made is I allow myself sf peanut butter and sunflower seeds which was a huge mistake )

If you're eating 20 G of carbs and losing weight you don't want to stay on that forever. You will eventually have to add some good carbs in there to prevent yourself from losing TOO much weight (I know, hard to believe there is such a thing!). And even some low in carb foods will/could prevent you from losing weight. Definitely a good idea to read the book.

What they said!!

Also, there isn't a lot of variety on 20 carbs per day. If you look at this as a healthy way of eating for life, rather than a short term solution for weight loss, I think you'll find the prospect of 20 carbs too limited. I personally couldn't stick to something that's that restrictive over the long haul. I need to add more types of food and a few more carbs or there's no way I could do it.
