Looking at the Atkins book I notice that the only foods added in when we get to OWL are:

Nuts and seeds and their butters...no cashews...no peanuts

Fresh cheeses, like cottage cheese ect.

Berries

Perhaps some of the add in foods we are choosing are not good choices. Like I said I ate a low carb tortilla yesterday, it's not on the "allowed " list. I need to keep something on the list with me while I'm out so I don't have to order the lo carb option, a lot of times the lo carb option is for maintenance or pre maintenance not induction or OWL.

I am still looking and Dr Atkins says to use the SF sweeteners sparingly, no more than 3 gms a day while on induction. A gm is 1 of the packets.

Nuts and seeds are allowed after the first two weeks and they are including peanuts in that. I didn't see anywhere that these were not allowed.

:spin:

The information I got about the nuts is from "Atkins The Complete Cookbook" published 2004.

Cashews and peanuts are listed in the Acceptable Pre-Maintenance Foods list on page 11. The OWL list does not have them.

In the pre-maintenance section on page 12 it says, "Cashew nuts are technically fruit and are higher in carbs than other nuts." "Peanuts are technically legumes and are also higher in carbs than other nuts."

I have an old Atkins "New" Carb Gm Counter and it does not list the fiber so I can count the net carbs, so when I saw the 2004 cookbook at Sams I got it. I also have the earlier version of the New Diet Revolution (1992) that did not talk about the fiber and net carbs, so I didn't even know about net carbs until I started reading this forum :chin:. It was interesting to see the difference the fiber makes! WOW

Journey Girl: You're right, peanuts are technically a legume. I was wondering if that is where the descrepancy is. It's funny that you get different information from the web site and the book. Just goes to show you how the company is being run now that Dr. Atkins isn't in charge anymore. I am going to have to go back to my pecans! :D
