Hi Star, I've been thinking of you these past few day, and I hope your recovery is going well. :queen:

Hi Star!

I hope your eye surgery went well!

Julie :)

Leenie 04-05-2004 09:54 AM

Hey Woman!!

Hope your okay.

StarPrincess 04-05-2004 10:26 AM

I'm baaaaaaaaaaaack! And I can SEE!!!! OMG this is the most amazing thing ever!

The surgery went really well. I had the dubious honor of being the most difficult (read: worst eyes to correct) surgery of the day. They were right about lasik - easy and pretty painless. And they were right about the PRK. It hurt like a *****! My left eye was almost swollen shut and I just cried and cried the first time DH had to give me eye drops. 3 codine pills later, I still hurt, but it was managable. ;)

I spent Friday and Saturday pretty much asleep (with some lovely protective goggles on). And then yesterday I felt great! As of my 'day after' appointment, my vision was already up to 20/30 and should continue to improve. It's amazing since my vision was something like 20/2000!

So today I go back to have my "band-aid" contact removed from my left eye and then it should be smooth sailing. I'm so happy I don' even care that I have to run around with no eye makeup for the next 2 weeks. I CAN SEE!!!!

:cb: :cb: :cb:

Yeah!!!! glad to hear from you and that eveything went well. Must be so weird to see all of a sudden. I can't even imagine.

Shimma 04-05-2004 12:08 PM

YEAH STAR! I'm glad you're doing well. Sorry it hurt so much though!

Leenie 04-05-2004 01:13 PM

Fantastic !!!!!

lady_adnerb 04-05-2004 02:23 PM

Oh man! I'm SOOO jealous! Well, sorry you were in pain but jealous cuz you're glass-less. I threw my contacts in yesterday and it was like OMG this is SO cool. I should do it more often

StarPrincess 04-05-2004 02:27 PM

It's funny. I keep waking up and thinking "Oh crap! I forgot to take my contacts out!"

I really am loving it! The pain was totally worth it. This is a tie with the breast reduction for the title of Best Thing I Could Possibly Do For Myself.

Soooooooooo happy!

lady_adnerb 04-05-2004 02:33 PM

Maybe some year I'll get to do that. But right now it's not an option. Eventually it might have to be otherwise my glasses will be tons thick

Kim in NJ 04-05-2004 02:39 PM

Great News Star.....
So glad everything went well....

jdoggmartin 04-05-2004 04:01 PM

Yay, Star!! So glad to hear everything went well and you can see!! :cb:

How cool! I'm like Brenda, just alittle jealous that the glasses are gone. I want to have lasiks done but would still need reading glasses. I can't get used to the one contact or just having one eye done so I wouldn't need them. My arms just aren't long enough...lol

lady_adnerb 04-05-2004 05:06 PM

Exactly! I would need glasses even if I had it done. I'd be farther ahead to stick the contacts in (but I can only imagine what it'd be like NOT to have to). The lady optometrist tried talking me into 2 different prescriptions for each eye. You know. The one eye would see near and the other far away? OMG the thought made me have a headache! Told her nope.

StarPrincess 04-05-2004 05:08 PM

Actually, I work with a lady who had the same problem. She had one eye done for distance and one eye done for up close. She said it took a little while to get used to, but she totally loves it now.
