Hungry

Ok, I've got the urge to eat. I feel like I've not eaten and I've just gotten done w/a salad. I feel like chowing on some meat. The thing is, I'm wondering if I need to worry about my calorie count. If I eat a piece of chicken is that going to screw up this weight loss I had going (the bad breath and bad pit smell is gone. So I'm guessing I'm in a stuck position again)?? Should I just eat the chicken and not worry about it? I'm not starving, but it's only lunch time so will I be able to hold out til supper??

HELP :hungry:

Brenda: What have you had to eat today?

lady_adnerb 03-11-2004 02:45 PM

I had a 2 egg omelet w/3 sausages cut into it.
then I ate a salad. So far that's it.

Catgirl67 03-11-2004 02:48 PM

Sometimes you have to watch the sugar in sausage and bacon. You may want to read the label. I would eat the meat and not worry about the calories. You may also want to read the link on weight loss stall by Atkins chick in this forum. It is very informative.

Did you have any protein with your salad? If not, you should, be it another egg, or a piece of chicken. There is nothing worse than being hungry when you are trying to stay on plan.

lady_adnerb 03-11-2004 03:02 PM

No, I haven't had anything but the salad. Usually I don't have a problem but today for some reason I just haven't felt full. Even after eating the omelet. I'll have to boil up an egg. Just to tide me over til supper.

Thanks all :)

Brenda,
Slam some water and eat your chicken :) It's better to not be hungry then to wait an hour and be starving with all those nasty little sins within reach right before dinner time.

jane8760 03-11-2004 03:13 PM

You definitely need protein in that salad. I would eat some meat and not worry about the calories. You can't be that high if all you had today was the egg etc for breakfast and a salad for lunch.

EAT, EAT

lady_adnerb 03-11-2004 03:17 PM

ok. 2 eggs getting boiled as we speak :)

KarenW 03-11-2004 03:54 PM

Brenda! One of the things you need to remember is dr atkins says to eat your protien! every Meal!! That is the most important part! :)

lady_adnerb 03-11-2004 05:39 PM

Umm....by the time the eggs were one I wasn't hungry anymore  I had a glass of water while they were boiling and that seemed to take care of it. I'm having steak (and maybe the eggs) and a salad for supper. So I'll be getting protein there. I tend to forget to add protein for lunch.

Trazzie 03-11-2004 05:51 PM

 water does it for me everytime

Theo'sgirl 03-11-2004 06:00 PM

Remember you all are supposed to be eating breakfast lunch and dinner PLUS 2 snacks a day!!! The more you eat the faster your metobolism will be, if you miss a meal or snack your metobolism slows down. Brenda yes it is great eat your protien every meal, but if you are hungry then eat! Just eat something that has no carbs like chicken or some type of meat, eggs were great too. And please remember to eat your snacks, it helps to keep you OT and fast metobolism!!

lady_adnerb 03-11-2004 08:01 PM

Oh heck. I forgot about snacks. How the devil do I fit them in there and what if I'm not hungry? Crud. Now I've got to figure out how to fit those in. AND what to have. Suggestions would be helpful ;) Something simple and on the go is what I'll need

Theo'sgirl 03-11-2004 09:20 PM

Brenda,
I know it is hard to change and then you feel like your whole day is food orientated!! :)
Look at the weekly food logs and you will get some great ideas, I try not to skip my snacks cause I want my metobolism moving quick. (thanks to Star she taught me that one) So if I am totally un-hungry I will skip it but I usually at something tiny and have some water, cause of the metobolism but also I find I get peckish and then I get into trouble.

Hope that helps.

Thank you all for the advice. I'll head to the food log and check out what others eat for a snack. I'm actually clueless on that. I've not snacked (well, except during TOM) since I started this WOE so I forgot completely about it!!! No wonder my carb count is so low. lol

Leenie 03-12-2004 09:27 AM

Our bodies fluctuate so much so listen to it, a piece of chicken isn't going to hurt and its better than driving you off the edge towards cookies. The only time I would be cautious is before bed, like chowing down on pepperoni and cheese like I do :( like I'm trying NOT to do. That can ruin your efforts. So now I go to bed early lol ;)

Eat papa eat !!!

lady_adnerb 03-12-2004 09:33 AM

I think I'm still training my brain on what should and should not (well, the should not part I'm pretty sure of  ) be happening on this WOE. But it's hard to remember that you have to EAT to lose weight. That's a hard one to re-train the brain with.

StarPrincess 03-12-2004 11:19 AM

I so don't have time, but I just couldn't resist this one.

Brenda-love, I do the same exact thing. I'll be cruising along and then I'll eat and I feel hungrier after I've eaten than before! Very annoying. So here's my tips:

1. Eat smaller portions more frequently. I just re-learned this one and it's working great! I put an example of what I'm doing in today's chat.

2. Set limits for yourself. We shouldn't be starving ourselves, but we need to remember that it takes our bodies 20 minutes to register "no longer hungry". 20 Minutes!!!! You can eat a lot of extra and unnecessary stuff in 20 minutes. So try setting reasonable rules for yourself. Eat your portion of food and if you're still hungry, say to yourself "Ok, we're gonna go do something else right now, but if you're still complaining about being hungry in half an hour, I'll give you some more food." That way, you're reinforcing healthy eating habits and not depriving yourself.

3. This WOE has made me so aware of my body and how I react physically and emotionally to food. Pay attention to you! You can't work with what you don't understand. ;)

lady_adnerb 03-12-2004 11:27 AM

We're taught early on to eat 3 meals a day and to not snack between meals. I'm slowly cutting down my meals. I'll have to get some sausage sticks and string cheese to munch for small snacks. Maybe I can cut the lunch out and just snack for that. Re-train myself slowly that way. I'm usually not hungry so to be that way yesterday surprised me. Then after I drank my water and waited for my eggs it was like i wasn't hungry anymore. Go figure. So I definitely need to learn the smaller portions-and then decide trick!!

You ain't just whistling dixie. Its a nasty habbit to have and a hard one to break.

lady_adnerb 03-12-2004 06:44 PM

Ok. Planning smaller meals isn't going to cut it for me. I totally missed out on "lunch" and snack. So I didn't get much into my system at all today. Phewwy!! It's back to the 3 meals a day for me. I'll just have to throw in some type of snack.
