Froufy...I researched Indian Food the other day (since I was in the situation) and found some good choices.
A good choice is Tandoori baked items (chicken, fish, etc), since they are less coated in questionables and dry baked. The rub contains yogurt and spices. Everything is typically high in fat (cooked in butter), but beware of mixed vegetable dishes which rely on potatoes as the main vegetable. The most common indian vegetables are potatoes, spinach, carrots, tomato, and peas--all of which get cooked down and contribute MAJOR carbs. Anyways, here's the low down: Tandoori, although it varies, is roughly 5-6 carbs per chicken piece (translate that to about 4 oz fish, etc) http://www.dwlz.com/WWinfo/indian.html that should also help, although the serving sizes are not really listed. Based on the numbers, it looks like 1/4-1/2 cup of a wet dish and 4 oz of a meat dish. |
On a funny note, that site I posted has suggestions for WW people looking for lower fat stuff. Ummm Indian food restaurants cook in BUTTER! :P Anyway, for us I guess you could just take the opposite advice and stay away from the low fat suggestions :)
