I've been jogging 2.5 miles/day and walking 1-2 miles a day with ankle weights. I jog and walk 5 days a week. I walk 3-4 miles a day on Thursday and Friday and don't jog those two days.

This has been helping me, I think. But, I just wrote a thread about the Atkins bars - I think they are causing me to stall....

April, thats a heck of a work out, you should pat yourself on the back

Do you log your food intake into fitday ? this might help you figure out your stall.

I've heard of so many things that can cause stalls, and the bars is one of them.

I work out 6 days a week at either the gym or on my treadmill at home. I do 35-45 minutes of cardio (Treadmill, Elliptical or Recumbant bike) and 35-40 minutes of weights. (At the gym)

I used to do aerobics tapes at home, but I needed something to motivate me to actually do it. The fact I am spending the money on the gym and drive past it on the way home from dropping my kids of at school everyday makes me go there!!! I try to get to the gym 3-4 days a week and the remaining days I used the treadmill at home.

What has this done for me? Well, the first 2 weeks on atkins I lost 8.5 pounds then stalled. I started to exercise and found that all though I still didnt lose weight my clothes started getting loose. Then after about 2 full weeks of exercise, the weight started dropping again, now 4 full weeks of exercise later, I am really starting to see the scale move! WOO HOO! 191 was a set point for my boddy as I hovered there for about 2 years. I know I have another set point around 160-165 as I sat at that weight for about 4-5 years in college and my first few years of marriage. I know exercise will get me through it!

Exercise has also helped me with my symptoms of PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) I am also a much more even tempered wife and mom! And I feel soo good after exercising.. my body even feels thinner! And I tend to get chatty! LOL!

I have been an on again and off again exerciser and I feel so much better when I exercise. I like the Walk Away The Pounds videos I have a set with 1,2,or3 miles. So if I don't have much time I do the shorter one. The set I like is for the abs and has resistance cords, and is a good work out.

Now that I am doing the Atkins Thanksgiving Challange I have been going to the gym when I can and doing cardio and weight training.

Lets get motivated and exercise.

dinki, i love the walk away the pounds videos too. i have yet to locate mine though. i'm sure they will be in the very last boxes that i unpack. my goal today is to find them though. i have the set with the water balls. i don't really care for them though, as they get slippery when my hands sweat. i've got to get going with it though. i have one richard simmons' tape that uses bands that i really like. i found it a few days ago, but haven't started using it due to the recent herbal tea fiasco.

good luck to all of us!

For me at least, exercise is critical. Even watching my calories, I have the metabolism of a slug. Over a year ago, myself and some other moms from School (Hi -L ) joined a local gym. Most weeks we go 4 times a week (we have coffee on the fifth day ). It really makes a difference, both to weight loss and how you feel about yourself. I spent the first year just on the treadmill, getting back in shape and adding time, incline & speed. This fall I've started doing the elliptical trainer. I'm up to 30 minutes (at low settings) and then I do another 20-30 on the treadmill.

I've been reading Dr. Phil's book and he recommends 5 hours of "intentional" exercise a week and another 2-3 hours of lifestyle exercising (gardening, cleaning, walk the dog kinda stuff). I really only get about 4 hours a week so I need to figure out a way to add some more in. My treadmill at home has given up the ghost so I need to replace it so I can get an hour or two in on the weekend when I'm not at the gym. *sigh* I definitely wish exercise were optional but I know it's not so I'm working hard to make it a habit.

BTW: I agree 100% that good sneakers are critical!! I have a pair of Ryka's and love them. They are designed specifically for women's feet - they are wide at the ball of the foot and narrow (compared to men's shoes) at the heel. I have to buy a bigger size (9 instead of 8) but they are a great fit and well worth the money.

I finally started walking. I walked the dog for only 15 minutes last night as it was almost completely dark when we started and did 30 minutes today on my lunch break. My goal is walk for 30-60 minutes after work with dog and 30 minutes on lunch break. I also want to find my bodyflex tapes to do once a day. I hate to exercise worse than anything but I've been stalled for too long.

Good luck girls!

Cardio 4-5 times a week 45-50 min each time
Running (HIIT) High Intensity Interval Training, Sometimes Treadmill (highest incline)

Lifting 5 days a week 50 min to 1 hr each time. Highest weight I can handle for 8-10 reps

I hardley ever cheat on diets, but if it happens, that is no excuse not to work out. Even if you are not on a diet. At lease you can maintain.

Talking 5out of 7

Hey girls. I decided I needed some accountability, so I chatted up another mom at my boys' bus stop and we head out each morning after the bus takes off for a good 2 mile walk. Some of the 2 miles we jog in sections, each time getting longer. My only concern is that it is so dark out at 6:30 am and I don't even want to think about it when the time changes. The other night she called me up as she got home early from work and we headed out for a second time that day. I find it rev's me up to start my day and gets me going. I was always finding excuses or something else better to do if I left it up to myself. Finding a buddy was the best thing I ever did.

I started walking with one of my coworkers today. Her legs are shorter than mine but I had to work to keep up with her. She is a regular walker. I could feel the effects a couple of hours later. I'm gonna try to stick with her cause I don't up a good pace on my own.
