Carb Counting App

I received a Fitbit Charge HR for Christmas and starting a low-carb eating plan, I'm a Type2 diabetic, so thinking the low carb is the best way to go., i have tried Ideal Protein and Atkins before, they work but are too restrictive and Ideal Protein is too expensive.

So planning on doing it by counting carbs.

So anyone know of a good carb counting app.......I know there are a lot of calorie counting apps, but cannot seems to find a carb counting app.

I did some research today and came across the Calorie Counter Pro
It has a 30/year subscription fee but has really high rating and has a free version also. I'm on meal 1 though, so can't recommend it - but research suggests it's the best

I just use the free version of MyFitnessPal with custom macronutrients set under My Home/Goals/Daily Nutrition Goals. I based my percentages on Paleo-ish levels of 20% Carbohydrates, 65% Fat and 15% Protein.

It totals up my carbs along with fat & protein, and I also added in tracking of sodium and fiber. It has several other things you can track too: cholesterol, types of fat, vitamins, minerals. The database it operates from is HUGE and continually tweaked and added to by millions of users. You can run reports on your data, like weight, carb levels, etc.

I think it's great! :)

Oh, and you can sync your new Fitbit info right into it! It will add in the exercise calories you burn as you go along.

I use myfitnesspal, but it doesn't do net carbs, only total.

There is also cronometer and the atkins app works as well.

Honestly even though I am not doing atkins I love their app and that is what I use to count my net carbs.

I'm late to this thread, but I've been using My Net Diary's diabetic program which I found on the Google Play store. It's a bit pricy at ten bucks, but it has about everything I could hope for, including an extensive food database, a blood sugar log, meds log, etc.

To be honest I have never done it. But I think that it is useless. Guess this is the reason why I have never done it. Though I am now thinking.... might be worth a good shot... Gonna think about it.

WW Diary

I use a free app called WW Diary. It was written for WW but it is easy to use for counting carbs. I set my daily points for 50, my weekly for 0 and ignore the WW formula completely.
You have to enter the values for each the first time you eat it, and you can add it to your favorites so it is easy to find,
For example:
I drink Hood Milk which has 3 net carbs per cup. I added it to my favorites and then I enter how many cups I'm drinking/using. You can enter partial cups using decimals.
There is a really nice forum for the program and the author is great at answering questions.
Hope this helps.
You can also track exercise.

I use Carb Manager for iPhone. I love it way more than MFP since the focus is on net carbs and not calories. I can still see the calories along woth my fat and protein intake but it is not front and center.

I have never found a good carb counting app (I feel your pain!!!). So I just use MyFitnessPal.
