Guess we are all busy and not checking in much.

I finally decided to email Diane with my Step 2 plan, and just after that within the hour, she emailed saying she was a Sandy storm victim and was emailing from a grocery store using their electricity to charge her phone. I was then quite shocked to get a message back from her. I expected she would not be answering for some time.

She said with the reduced weight but no reduction in inches, I was burning my muscle and I needed to increase my exercise in length and intensity. Ok, ok.....gee.... I have lost almost 5 lbs in the past 3 weeks since restarting Step 1, but no more inches.....hmmmmmm

Like you Nelly I get kind of confused about how what happens. I have been under so much stress and health testing I just got off plan period for the last 4 days and am not sure what I am going to do going forward.

I am in between sizes and blood numbers have been much better. However thinking of going back to an Atkins type of a more restricted plan until I get about 20 pounds off. That is usually 2 pounds a week on 20-30 carbs with no exercise. So doing some would probably help that and then move into Dianes step one and the rest of the plan.
One of the reasons I could never stay very lc for any longer than 6 months was reintroducing the carbs and I can now see her plan does it very well and not set off cravings so they say. So step one would be a great way to move up slowly.
So where does this leave you plan wise and how could you be burning muscle with the amount of carbs on step one? I am not sure I understand the reasoning on that one, you?

What it says in the book, is that if we don't exercise, our body will not know the difference between muscle and fat tissue, and will burn both on the diet. So if we exercise, our body will know what is muscle and will not burn that.
Also fat does not weigh as much as the muscle, so if I am loosing weight and not inches, I am loosing muscle since it is more dense and weighs more, so when lost, we show a big weight loss.
We don't want to loose muscle because it burns fat more efficiently than fat... the more muscle you have the more weight you will burn and more easily.

All this to say, I need to go walk, cold wind today, so not wanting to do it.

Ha ha, I can so relate! My arm injury stops me from doing a lot I would like to do. And with everything that has been going on have not even rode my bike. But hopefully things are starting to settle down for me to get my brain back on the task at hand. Right now just trying to hold it all together and not gain 10 lbs.
Get your butt out there and walk! I'll sit here on the couch and watch ya

Do any of you girls have any gluten free tortilla recipes?

My Sister is having a hard time of life and recently found out she has a wheat allergy. So she is going gluten free.

What about corn tortillas? or is she trying to be lc too?
Pretty much back on plan, my week off left mr with a bg of 128 in the evening 3 hours after eating, that was a wake up call to get at least my diet back on track. I think DH and me are just going to step one through the holidays before even thinking about step 2. I will look around fro you Ksquared.

Corn tortillas are great. But she would like a wheat free option for eating sandwiches.

Have a good trip, do what you can eating-wise.

I never thought of a gluten free tortilla to purchase. There are more of those products available now

I have been sick, better today.

I LOVE it! I lost inches the first 8 weeks and have lost over 10 lbs, and FEEL much much better!

How are you liking it? I posted some recipes a number of pages back on this thread if you are searching for some.

I don't know where the other ladies went, but there were a few of us chatting here for awhile. I know I and one other lady paid the small fee to join the forum that the author of the book runs for added support and information.
