i love low carb :)

  • i've lost 8 lbs already. woot woot. and doing this doesn't seem so difficult like it has been in the past with other diets, i guess because i still get to eat a lot of the things i like just finding a healthier way to do it and cutting out all those crappy carbs i was eating way too much of it, i never noticed how many carbs i ate everyday and now that i realize it and i've made a strong effort to stop being that way i'm starting to feel so much better and i can already tell a little bit of a difference in my body and how i feel
looking forward to the future but loving the present as well
  • I hear you! I never realized how little protein I ate until I readjusted my carb intake. Yeah, I ate alot of crappy carbs too! Now, I hardly ever have cravings or binges like I once did.

This is a way of life for me now!
  • I love low carb too! Several years ago I lost quite a bit of weight EASILY when going low carb. In the past couple years I put it back on dealing with depression and anger and a hurt back.

But I've started my own low carb support group at work, and after battling the "ATKINS FLU" for a couple days, I feel great. I'm down several pounds...all water weight I'm sure....but I'm ready to stick it out.

There are all kinds of wonderful things to eat. When people ask me what you have to cut out to eat low carb, it's not that much really.

And I tell them all that here in Wyoming, us Native people had a totally low carb way of life until commodities were introduced in the reservation days only 150 years ago.

Carbs are a matter of convenience. Look at gas stations and what they sell for snacks. pizza, corn dogs, chips, cookies, candy, sugery drinks... the list is never ending. I believe that these corner stores are contributing to the overall epidemic of obesity in America. Look at inner cities, where there are no grocery stores. All they have is crap, and that is waht the people have grown up on for the past 30 years.

Speaking of Grocery stores, I wish we had a market system more like France, China, or Japan where everything is grown and/or sold in local markets, fresh. In our big box stores in America, we have too much prepacked, boxed and processed foods that are robbing us of our health, and livelyhoods. We need to wake up, and shake up the system. The problem is, is how do we do it...

BTW, I love low carb too. makes me feel good

  • I live in France and believe me, eating healthy, low carb & fresh is as much of an effort here as in the US (I'm American, btw). People buy convenience foods due to the marketing of them and the fact that they are cheap per calorie -- and that is sadly true worldwide.

Often when I'm out and about I'll go by several shops & all are nothing but carbs. I usually have to find a small grocery store to find low-carb food on the run... Just like in the US. I try to have nuts in my purse for emergencies, but it's clear that eating low carb is not the most convenient choice (even if it makes me feel great!).
  • Hi thanks for setting me straight. Global marketization is apparently happening everywhere. I was under the impression, from the travel shows, that local markets are how alot of foreign countries get their food. I see the tiny kitchens with dorm sized fridges and it make me think that getting food is a daily occurrence rather than weekly, like it is at my house.

I live in South Dakota, and our grocery stores are somewhat limited in the variety of fresh veggies we get. I don't think I have ever seen watercress here...
  • hooray on your 8 lbs!!!! I love low carb too because I can stay off metformin eating this way!
