Need some ideas!

I have just started a low carb lifestyle this week. I am not doing atkins just lowering my carbs. I have a question/problem I am hoping to get a few ideas for. I have IBS with constipation. (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) I take powder medication every night for this. Normally I mix it in orange juice but orange juice has so many carbs, I have tried water and it's horrible I can't force myself to gag it down. I have also tried it in a protein shake and same way only it thickened it up and between the taste and the thick slimy texture I couldn't get that down either.

Does anyone have any ideas what I could mix this in?

The medicine is Miralax if anyone is familar with it.

You can try it with diet soda, in case your drink that. BTW, do you have Miralax daily, I think it should not be taken continuously for more than a week (thats what is written in the box!)

Maybe some unsweetened Almond Breeze:idea: Its available in original, vanilla & chocolate and its low carb. Just a thought.

what if you made a smoothie with fruit and a fat-free yogurt and mixed in it with that?

What is almond breeze?

I haven't tried any smoothies yet. Trying new recipes everyday so I may have to add that in and see how it goes. Does anyone have any favorite smoothies that they recommend?

Yes, I take Miralax everyday, actually the generic form, by a prescription from my doctor. I get in bad shape without it so any side effects I am prepared to deal with.

You would want to get the unsweetened version....its low carb.

Thanks. I did a search yesterday and found it. But honestly can't afford to get it. I have been using the tiniest amount of water as possible and taking it down in one gulp then chasing it immediately with fresh water. LOL My DD laughs at me , apparently I make the best faces but it's working and it's totally worth it.

Low-Carb Frozen Dinners??

Hi there -- anyone in this group know of any low-carb frozen dinners? Or do they even exist these days??

Beth, I would probably do what you're doing - just choke it down as fast as possible if that is working for you - and then get the taste out of your mouth.

You might be able to use some of the sugar free syrups (like DaVinci) with the water?
