I know you have to be careful with a lot of the lc bars which I never use, but I was wondering about the Lowcarb Atkins Advantage shakes. Are they for snacks only or can they be used in place of a meal at least maybe a couple of days a week? I'm not a big breakfast eater but know it is important. I was thinking of drinking one for breakfast maybe not everyday but on busy mornings. Thanks for your help.
Thanks Kim. I read the info about the Atkin's shakes not to be used during induction. I'm the one who mentioned The Metabolism Miracle program. It is a lot like Atkins except you don't have to count all the very low carbs. I looked at your before and after picture. You are a real testimony. Now that I understand more about the way low carb works in the body (I understood better after reading Met Miracle book) and I've read the thread on Atkins info here at 3fc. I am starting Atkin's Induction tomorrow. I was going to do it today, but it didn't work out that way. I like starting New things on Sundays. I've been doing a lot of reading on lowcarb and the different plans. I've read many of the different books. I have come to believe that it would be better for me to count ALL carbs.
A BIG THANKS to you and others who have done an excellant job of putting together some really good info on the Atkins plan. I really don't want to buy another Atkins book, but might have too. I would love to have it just for the Diet Revolution Roll he had in the book. I can't find my book anywhere. I must have lost when I moved from TX. I have Dana Carpender's book and will use it. I don't remember that she said, but I get the impression she did Atkins or close to it.
Thanks Kim for the recipe for the shake. I will look into making my own and maybe save the Atkin's shakes for emergencies.
Have a great 4th.
Thanks Kim. Yesterday was a very "carby" day, but the most interesting experience I had last night was that I got hungry but not for carbs. My body was actually craving protein. Can you believe it? I guess the semi-lowcarb things I've been doing and this experience kind of proves that I need to be a lowcarber.
Kim, have you every heard of what is called the Lowcarb 72 or something like that? I found it on another website. They seem to do a 1972 Atkins plan. They do a strict induction for 7 days and then build up a few carbs like only maybe 5g a day for week 2 and add a few on week 3 etc. I never was able to do a full 14 day induction in the past and gave up Atkins because of that. Can't rememberr what happened, but I would quit Atkins. I believe I can do a 7 day AI as I now believe it is important to get the pancreas functioning properly and this is how to do it. After reading the Metabolism Miracle book, I've learned this also causes the liver to function properly as well. I am also convinced that I am a Metabolism B person who has been using diets that fit a Metabolism A person. Can't put a square peg in a round hole. I can see where all this started for me. I will be 66 yrs next month and I started having weight problems when I was about 15 or 16 years old although I didn't gain much because I was very active. Suddenly in my senior yr in high school I started having all kinds of problems such as being weak and fainting etc. It was all the carbs I ate. When I got out of high school and went to college oooohhhh my the carbs I ate and I had all the classic symptoms of a Met B on carbs.
Kim what is your opinion of the fats? Do you just use butter and healthy fats or what? That is pretty much what I do although I do have to admit that I do like pork fat.
Thanks for your help and support. I am excited about this now that I know what to look for I am certain I can do it.
Have a good day.
I keep the Atkins shakes on hand for when I'm on the run and really don't have time to make anything. Other than that, I prefer to make my own whey protein shakes with some frozen fruit, ice cubes and low carb soy milk. They are much more filling and stay with me longer.
