Hey there, folks!

Well, today's WI puts me back up at 215lb, damn it. I'm aiming to be 212 in April, and I figure I've still got a week to get back to it - fingers crossed! Today I FAILED to go to the gym, and I did have one glass of white wine. Ack. However, the rest of my choices were sterling, and under some considerable temptation, so I'm not going to freak too much.

Meanwhile, I went to my first Committee Meeting for the Drama Group I belong to, and have committed myself to several things already. The one I'm most psyched about is organising a Sing-a-long-a-Sound-of-Music thing in October. Don't know if you've heard about it - here's a link to the website for the show in London, which I attended maybe 8 years ago. It's awesome fun, kind of like the Rocky Horror Picture Show, but much more family-orientated (although still massively popular with the camp'n'saucy folks too) and you can drink while you're watching the movie and singing along, and there's fancy dress, and it's just v. cool. I have loads of ideas for audience participation stuff - should be a blast. Anyway, yeah - this is awesome, because it's in October so I'm going to aim to be down to 182lb by then (hoping to be down more, but I'll be happy with this if I achieve 13 stone because I don't think I've weighed that since University!), and I'm starting to plan my outfit already - will get something made by my tailor, but I haven't decided whether to be The Baroness or Maria or a Random Nun - or something else again! But I intend to look AWESOME!

HI HO LC'ers!

Hope you're feeling better petra!?

Awesome BP news scalmie!

I'm officially voting NO on the Random Nun Costume, fay! (Unless you can make it a FIERCE Nun Look @ Rocky Horror Sound of Music - which I've heard is such a Total Blast!)

*shrugging off being totally out of my mind since last Wed*

Strike Article today states "No End In Sight" - so no hope of getting a grip thru a work routine/schedule . . . must get said grip the old fashioned way . . . whateverTH that means!

Hope you're all having a Fab Monday - ttyal!

Hi everyone, I've been really busy lately and no let up in sight. It's always like this in spring. I'm actually finished work for the week (our week ends on Monday) with about 45 hours and now I'm off to shop for DS's b-day. He's turning 21 and wants a bike which I'm not at all qualified to buy since he wants a good bike. I'm going to go around to the pawn shops and hope for the best. His birhday is Thurs., younger DD will be 16 on Sunday, there's an all day volunteer thing on Saturday that will include a meeting on Wed and shopping on Friday (I'm a food cooridinator- I get to feed 40-50 volunteers). Sat night, after all day volunteering, we'll have DD's sleepover with 8-10 16 year olds and Sunday evening we'll have double birthday dinner since DS wants to spend his actual birthday at a bar. It's o.k. though, his older sister, DD23, has volunteered to be a DD (designated driver). Then we have two parties coming up! Including DD23's graduation party. I haven't even thought about invitations and I need to!!!! So I may lose my mind this month, but so far I'm on plan. I got the Good Calories, Bad Calories book in the mail the other day. I hope I get a chance to read it! He convinced me with the intro! So, I'm off to shop! Hope everyone is having a great day. Lynn

Well I lost the lbs I gained last week so I'm happy about that. I am feeling better as the day goes on so whatever it was seems to be almost over.

Had another dog training session tonight. Planning for a test on Saturday which is Tammy's first step toward becoming a therapy dog. This dog is a mess. I think she may have a problem with one of her hips too!! Going to get it xrayed probably tomorrow. I still haven't scheduled her endoscopy. She's turning into an expensive dog..

I am SO envious SIC......that is my goal - and to do it without medication. It's what keeps me going when I want to quit.

Hang in there Fay....you'll get there.

lynnar...I've been reading GCBC every day for the last week. It's very good. Right now I'm in a section where I'm feeling like it's 'hopeless' for long term weight loss so it will be interesting if that perspective continues or not.

Have fun with the dog training, Petra!

Hi to everyone else.

Hey Aud, your bad weather just reached up. It looks like tornado weather again, but I don't think that's in the forecast. Just thunderstorms.
My problem with all the parties is simple: all the cleaning!! I'm not the best housekeeper in the world, so before anyone can come over we have to clean! Add that to the yard work and it's a big undertaking!! And here I am busy at work too, after a winter of boredom! And all the volunteer stuff has to happen at the same time! AAAAAAHHHHHHH!
Kris, I've only read the first chapter and I was thinking the whole time - I knew it! I told my (thin) sister a year or two ago, that I knew there was more going on then me just eating too much. She was polite, of course, but she was asking me why I didn't just diet the extra weight away. At one point she suggested one of those meal replacement shake things. And I was trying to convince her that low fat diets just don't work for me. And, we all know the response, the polite unbelief. I've gotten it from my doctors too. So I'm really, really hoping that Taubes has an answer for me. It's going to be difficult for me to get through the whole book. I have such limited time for reading. But I'm sure gonna try. Let me know when the good part starts!!
Tomorrow is my WI day and I'm hoping for a loss. I think I can, I think I can.

****ing ****ing ****!

Or, since that will get censored, buggering buggering bugger! Arse! Feck! Bollocks! ****e!

Am very frustrated. Eating had been FINE today. And then I assumed that I could order a delicious cheese & rare beef salad while at The British Club having my rehearsal, so after finishing work, then finishing a lengthy staff meeting, then going to tutor a little girl in English, then getting home, having a shower, I just ate a packet of salted almonds (was ravenous) and headed out the door to my freaking play rehearsal (got there for 7.30 on the dot).

And did I get to order my dinner? No. No I did not. Because my director told me off, as I was trying to take advantage of the fact that SOMEONE ELSE HAD ALREADY SUMMONED A FREAKING WAITER TO ORDER DRINKS, and said "A cheese and beef salad, please." And he wanted to check the menu to be sure he understood me (being Thai), which was taking up maybe 10 seconds. But I got told off. So I was all 'feck this, fine, just a soda water'.

So I missed my bloody dinner. And I'd really been looking forward to it too - it's an awesome salad. And instead I had a vodka and soda.

And at 10pm, when we finally finished, I had another vodka and soda. Which I felt a bit guilty about, but I reckoned it was okay, what with the no freaking dinner.

And then someone ordered me another, despite my protestations. Only it was a gin and tonic. Regular tonic. And I drank it.

And now I'm just PISSED OFF. For a variety of reasons, actually, but particularly because I was trying to make good and sensible choices to take control of my freaking weight and get RID of this fat, and I'm frustrated that things conspired against me AND I LET THEM. Because, yes, I could have just put down the gin'n'tonic and not drunk it - but it was 10pm, I was knackered and grumpy and someone had just bought me a drink.

Damn. I really wish I HAD just put it down, though. I really really really so want to lose more weight, and I'm frustrated as **** that I'm doing anything to get in the way of this.

Fay, I would have taken the gin and tonic and poured it on the director who yelled at me!! Well, really, I would have wanted to pour it on him, but really I would have quietly drank it and ordered another! But it is completely unfair when someone comes between you and your sensible choices!! Not to mention your dinner!! One gin and tonic isn't so bad. You could have eaten a half gallon of ice cream with a quart of hot fudge sauce and whipped cream, right? You'll be back on plan and make it work in no time!! Think of how much you have already lost!!

I've just been to gym for the first time since Thursday last week, so I'm proud of myself. But I did enough yard work and cleaning on Sunday, that I was actually a little sore so I'll count that as a work out. And the good news is, here it is after 1:30 and I'm just now eating lunch and I'm not really very hungry!!! Hurrah for me!!

Leenie-does that mean you trust us to be on our best behavior?

Good news! Tammy does not have hip dysplasia. I have no clue what her problem is but I'm not going to worry about it (the hip that is). She's getting an endoscopy on Thurs. and if that doesn't show anything, I don't know what else to do about that either.

I had an unbelievably stressful day at work today. It has shown in some of my food choices. Not really off plan but more than I should have eaten of some things. I also didn't get to go to the yoga class I wanted to go to at 4:30. I could use Fay's gin and tonic about now.

Nutty, nutty,nutty...I'm going nutty. I have not generated so much paper since college and my two year stint with the law prior to deciding I thought being a litigator would suck. Pounds of paper. I am single handedly raping the forests of trees with my lust for paper. O.K. enough of that. It is 6:00 and I just got home. The caveat is that I started at 4:00 this morning. That is just sick. Tomorrow is a day in the field for which I am so so grateful even if it means running from one meeting to the next.

Fay: I've been home about 15 minutes and I'm on my second glass of chardonnay. I would be on my second vodka if I had any. Feel better? At the least you should feel virtuous since I don't even have one shred of guilt.
Auddie: O.K. it is time for the strikin' folks to change direction. My auddie is starting to get bored. Plus...eating and paying bills is always nice. I decided that in honor of you I'm going to tell DH that I need to go to work early tomorrow but in reality I will go to the indian casino and blow some cash. Yeah baby.

Petra: Glad Tammy doesn't have a hip thingy but darn it's frustrating isn't it? The rotund cocker had massive kidney stones removed in November. She is only three years old. Thank the lord my older sister is a vet since I have a motto, "good vet care is free vet care". Actually, I typically insist on paying but November was an exception. I took Ellie in for the procedure and when I went to pick her up my dog was given to me along with a Tiffany box in which was enclosed....the kidney stones (2 of them). It was my Christmas present.

Lynnie: It is nasty weather here as well. Now I get to yell back at people who have been screaming about weed abatement and fires for the last month, "Hey, the reason I don't contract that work prior to the end of May is BECAUSE IT CAN RAIN RIGHT AFTER I DO THE WORK (if I do it in April) and then I would have to do it twice. Still...I think I just wanna yell. Felt good.

O.K. That is all my tired brain can wrap around right now. My gobsmacking (thanks Fay for the new word) cell phone has rung about eight times since I sat down at the computer. Some poor manager obviously is in disress and needs a special dose of my supervisory lovin'.
