An Apology to My Body
Just saw this in "Outsmarting the Midlife Fat Cell" by Debra Waterhouse . . . it's honesty hit me right square in my menopausal face but thought it poignant for all stages of life~so thought I'd share:
An Apology to My Body by Marlena Gutierrez For all the times I hated you, said you were "too fat," "too ugly," "too" anything. For all the times I cried in frustration because you didn't look the way I wanted you too. For all the times I put you down in my own mind and in front of others. For all the times I allowed someone to criticize you and judge you as "not good enough." For all the times I thought you were awkward, graceless, clumsy. For all the times I tried to change you by dieting, depriving you of true nourishment. For all those times, forgive me. Forgive me for not seeing you as the wondrous and beautiful body you really are and always have been. |
awww lovely poem..gonna add it to my collection :)

Wow Aud...Great poem...can totally relate! Just the other day, as a matter of fact, I was screaming at my lower abdomen pouch saying, "Why are you still here...just go away and get outa my life"!!
Guess I need to apologize..huhh?? But really, I do need to love all of me, including the pouchy (it's been with me along time). Life is short...we need to love everybit of ourselves. Great poem. Thanks for the post! |
Very inspirational Aud.
I was the same. But now that I am treating my body better ...it's treating me better. |
