Cooking Meat Less

Has anyone else found that when doing low carb they want their meat cooked less? I grew up eating meat well done. I am mean absolutely no pink. But now, my steaks have to be almost rare. I just can't tolerate meat that is cooked more. I just don't know what happened to my taste buds.

It is funny how our tastes change when we get older. I never used to like meat growing up or eggs...now I love them.

I haven't had that happen to me. I do agree I like a wider variety of vegetables now, but I still like my meat well done.

I haven't noticed a change since starting LC. But if my meat gets any more rare it will be raw. I have always hated well cooked beef, or any over cooked meat.

LOL. Me too, Puncezilla. And rare doesn't bother me if it's a good cut of meat but I don't want to feed rare/raw to the kids.

BTW, have you tries Omaha Steaks? I got a care package for Xmas and all I can say is that I was totally unimpressed. The meats just didn't taste good at all. Just yucky. And the kids didn't eat it either.

I totaly understand this even though I don't have kids yet. I wouldn't give rare meat to kids either. Funny thing is, I think the reason I hate over cooked meat is because my mom always cooked it untill it was completely dry and tasteless, so maybe she was worried about the same thing.
I haven't tried Omaha steaks, I'll keep that in mind if I ever see them.

I know my parents and grandparents wouldn't eat anything that wasn't cooked until well-well-done and dry as the Sahara Desert. This past summer when we were in Kansas City. My husband grilled steaks for dinner. My father-in-law took his and cooked it in a pan until it was well-done.

It just must be a generational thing. I'm Gen X and they're Baby Boomers or older.

I think it could be a generational thing, Maybe there where more problems with refridgeration when they were growing up so it was more of a safety issue than it is now.
