I haven't done any before or after anything except the before pics, which I hate and are kept hidden, lol! But I am type 2 Diabetic, results from being fat, and my bloodwork gets done every 6 months. Everything was good last time, so when I go back in Feb it'll be done again and we shall see. I am hoping that by then I will have lost enuff to go off these diabetic meds and be able to control this on my diet alone. Also, speaking of the huffing and puffing, I experience this just doing the simpliest things sometimes and it gets on my nerves. I am really looking forward to the day when just taking a dang shower doesn't feel like a chore.
My mom has diabetes too, as did my Grandma on daddy's side, and she has heart desease ( as did my Daddy's father) and a number of other complicastions due to her diabetes and she's oly 59. She refuses to take care of herself and has taken these diagnoses as a death sentence. My Nanny, her mom, died in her early 60's and I guess Mama thinks she will too. It is so sad to watch her go down hill like this and all I know is, I don't want that for myself. My nieghbor, who is the same age as Mom has oodles of energy. Mows her own lawn, gardens, exercises, hikes mountains with her grandkids.... So I know it's not her age, it's her health. We have another neighbor, Rosetta, who is in her 70's and is still very active. She works, drives, chops her own wood. I'm telling ya, these East TN women are tough! |
Hi Diva,
Just the fact that want to change your woe is a good sign! It's never too late, I believe to get into good eating habits. You will lose on low carb, as long as you do it the way it's supposed to be done. We can't justify eating something that we know we shouldn't have either. I never thought I would lose as much as I have by eating this way, but it does work. You're gonna see results right away too. Congradulations on your way to be a more healthier person. And soon you're gonna notice the heavy breathing slowly diminishing and that you'll be able to even bend over without gasping for breath. I hope for the very best to you! Diana |
It's funny. I have a few friends in the health profession (a couple of MDs and a couple of RNs) and they all think Atkins is the cat's pajamas. My personal experience with the naysayers (ymmv of course) is that they tend to have little interest in health and nutrition, or science in general. Someone who has no interest is unlikely to have independently gathered a wide range of information and opinion -- the only things that stick iin their minds are those with the highest index of sensationalism. That's why sensationalism sells advertising space. You know the old saying in journalism: If it bleeds, it leads. Amazing how much controversy is artificially induced...
