way to go beach on your 4 lb loss!! thats great....
I'm new here, I started low carb 8-13 and have lost 9 lbs so far and cheated w/ a piece of ice cream cake once...hopefully i'll lose that in the next few days,
azra-days 3 and 4 were the hardest for me, once those were over it got MUCH easier...now i dont even think about eating it, ok well i do a little but not like i was then...

azraelya 08-22-2007 08:49 PM

I wish it wasn't so hard this time around! I'm so used to having other people in the house LC'ing with me, but with my boyfriend deciding he doesn't wanna do it anymore, its sooo hard :( I've lost a lot of motivation and willpower without the "buddy system" I'm so used to. I've already given into temptation, but I did get right back on track today. Gonna keep trying! :/

Good Morning Ladies:)

I was too cocky thinking that the temps are going to stay in the 50 in the evening and the 70 during the day. They going up again, the humidity is really bothering Leos breathing.I guess the A/C will be used again.

Lily-Sorry your blood pressure when that low. Mine was just tested its 80. If you find that your not eating enough up the calories a bit. I found that for my height & build I have to have 1300-1400 calories per day. Some of those charts that you see on the health web sites say lower, but you can't go by that.

Bouncing-Wow do you have a lot on your plate today. Try to take a breather in between. I was just decussing that [w-i]on another board. I found an article, wish I could find it that explained why this happens.

Lots-Thanks for the congrats. Gee to me that low carbing.I started with 20-25 carbs, than I worked my way up to 3-35 etc. Congrats on your 9 lbs. Not going to worry about counting carbs to closely as the only thing that brings my weight up is bread & grain so I make lots of Revolution rolls and they satisfy me when the craving for bread starts.

azraelya-Don't fret you have all of us to be your buddy. I know how hard it is. Like to posted to Lots I used to count but now I know to stay away from grains & bread. Which I had on our cruise, but know that I'm not having them I losing again.

Have to go, and get my days chores started

Hugs :) BB

I just wanted to update everyone! I decided after having a virtual meltdown on Tuesday that I was officially going to take a couple days off from work, from worrying about school, money and everything else--I also decided to take two days off from my diet. It's been a long time since I actually gave myself permission to not diet... and I feel differently about it than when I break down and binge. For one thing, I don't feel guilty. More importantly, on this break from dieting, I haven't been binging at all--just eating whatever I'm inclined to in NORMAL portions without the anxiety attached with binging on things.

For the last day and a half I've been free of stress and anxiety. Yesterday, my mom and I went to breakfast (where I had the first blueberry pancake I've had in a LONG time), then got manicures and pedicures, then had a couple drinks and then we went and saw Stardust at the movies. I had a VERY relaxing day, and I'm following it up today with more easy going stuff. I went shopping today and bought a couple of fall shirts, and now I'm going to go do laundry, pack a few things for school and tidy up my room (and cook some Atkins-friendly things for the next few days).

My break from life (and from Atkins) is two days long and I think I definitely needed it. So, I can get back into things tomorrow feeling more at ease with myself.

Sometimes, I forget how relaxing and peaceful it is just to take a DEEP breath and make a concerted effort not to worry.

azrel, I know it's hard to lose a "buddy." But sounds like he's only turned into a non-participant, not a sabateur. Ultimately, we carry our fat around all by ourselves, and we have to take it offf all by ourselves. Traveling companions are comforting, but I've found that I can be more honest and get stronger support from people who aren't "inner circle" (family, very close friends, significant other) because they are more objective, and less afraid I'll take offense at some perfectly reasonable comment!

Azure, please let us know how your two days off goes, and especially how easy it is or insn't to get/stay back on plan. I'm really afraid to do what you're doing, because I don't trust my ability to go right back to plan, and I don't want to fall out of ketosis because it typically takes me several days to get it back. Not that that (a few days out of ketosis) should be all that important if I'm really looking at this as a lifetime commitment, huh?

Lily, I knoq hoq rhw low bp feels -- mine has gone to 52/40. Mine is really, really hard to regulate. It tends to roller-coaster. I may be close to ready to go off the meds. I need to make an apt. to see about those and the diabetes meds might be adjustable too by now. I'm being awwwfully good these days, and we all know exdercise and diet can sometimes have a huge effect.

Have qa good day, everybody...isn't wifi a wonderful thing?

lilybelle 08-23-2007 03:37 PM

Ladies I went back and checked my post to make sure I had put it was my blood Sugar that had dropped, not my blood Pressure. I am feeling better for now. But, I think my diabetes med. may need to be reduced a little.

I had just been eating healthy, exercising and drinking lots of water and ignoring the scale. Well, this morning I got paranoid that maybe I'm gaining and don't even know it. So, after 2 long weeks, I got on the scale. I'm down 3 whole lbs. yipppeee. I am so happy. I'm going to continue on plan and stay off the scale another week and see how it goes. It's kind of like "a watched pot doesn't boil" for me. I think lowering my carbs is what is definitely working again for me. After my successful weigh-in, I made me a big chef salad and was so glad to be on plan and know it's working.

Lilly-way to go w/ your 3lb loss!!! thats great :)
i'm not sure what happened to me, when i weighed in yesterday i was at 197.5 and this morning, 201.5!!!! that the heck!!! i didn't cheat at all yesterday, ok well, i did have an apple, and i walked 1 3/4 miles, i wouldnt think i would have gained that much, hopefully its my TOM coming, although I havent had one in forever, (i've been pg. or nursing for about 3 yrs) but who knows...i'll try really hard today :)

beach bum 08-24-2007 12:25 PM

Hi Ladies:)

Sorry I was MIA this morning,I'm not feeling well again,The hot humid weather is causing the hyperhidrosis again, and of cause the doctor is off today and for the rest of the weekend.Leo is having trouble breathing again also. I HATE the summer months, especially when it humid.

Lost another pound this morning so I'm one pound way from losing the cruise gain.W-I is tomorrow morning.

Azure-Sometimes that a good idea to stay away for a while, but just be careful of the things you eat.Good Luck in your quest.

Lily-Sorry that was me,reading your post wrong.Big congrats on your 3 lb lose. I read some where that weighing in every week is not healthy for your physic, but now I lost the article. I was thing of weighing in 2x's a month. Has anyone tried this than found great results.

Lots -Don't think that the apple caused the gain. You would have to eat 3500 cals of apples to gain 1 lb. Its probably TOM. that doing this to you.

Have a great day, after lunch I going to lay down

Hugs :) BB

2songbirds 08-24-2007 12:28 PM

don't you just hate that when your scale says one # one day, then the next couple days you don't know what happened? But, then after a week or so, you'll notice it lingering around that nice low number again, then start losing again out of no where. I've noticed this pattern, although it does irk me, that's the way it happens....lose...plateau...lose....plateau

chickadee315 08-24-2007 12:35 PM

Returning to Low Carb

Hello! Would love to jump back on the thread after a mighty long absence. I am finding, after much yo-yo'ing on lowfat plans that low carb is the ONLY way for me to go to lose this weight. I have managed to "diet" myself up to my highest weight ever. So disheartening! My saving grace was knowing that *I* know what's best for me, and that is low carb all the way.

I look forward to getting to know everyone here, and hopefully supplying lots of support & motivation for you all!

Today is day3 for me and so far so good! Keeping my fingers crossed that the weekend goes just as well!

Have a beautiful day!!!

Not sure how I did it - but can you believe I actually LOST a pound on the Tunica Trip???????????:o:carrot: :smug: Gosh I LOVE Atkins & The Good Doctor - God Rest his Soul!:)

Ok - so trip ended up taking 7 hrs instead of 5 and 1/2 (Don't ask;)) . . . seems like we stopped at every Travel Plaza - so I loaded up with local southern pork rinds/cracklings/lunch meats/cheeses/dips/egg bread sammiches I'd packed w/cream cheez and just stuffed myself as the miles rolled by and everyone else was having chips/31 flavor ice creams/candy bars:devil: . . . at the Hotel/Casinos I stayed basically OP at the Buffet but LOTS & LOTS of OP;) . . . & the nite we had the Fine Dining Experience - I had the Coconut Shrimp that was sitting on some kind of sugary glaze and just enjoyed! Also a slice of Moll's Birthday Cake (Torte) . . . sublime!

Here's what else I did - worked out one morning for an hour . . . walked the five flights UP, ONCE . . . walked the five flights DOWN 5 times . . . swamswamswam . . . and only drankdrankdrank one of the 3 nites. (LOTS *glug*Tanqueray & Tonics & Bud Lite.*super glug*:p:dizzy:)

My oldest Sis hit 2 good size jackpots (one for 2G and one for $800) . . . Birthday Girl was up & down and finally stayed down . . . I ended up $80 ahead of the game - other Big Sis lost but wouldn't say how much . . .

My "real" w/i is Monday nite tho' - so made the best I could catching up tonite . . . and have to work again tomorrow nite - hope to hit the gym and keep this downward trend a'going!

Congrats on the losses . . . welcome to sugar and spice and hope you check in soon azure!:)

lilybelle 08-25-2007 08:49 AM

danielle, welcome back and we look forward to your posts.
Aud, sounds like an awesome trip. We found out yesterday that our 18 yr. old daughter that just joined the Coast Guard will be stationed in Memphis after boot camp. LOL, hmmmmmmmmm, that's awefully close to Tunica. We'll just have to pay her a visit.

chickadee, WTG on the 10 lbs., that is awesome.

Yippee, I'm now back to my goal weight. This low-carbing sure helped take off those extra 4 lbs. that I had gained.

aud 08-25-2007 01:26 PM

The section of Memphis we drove thru sure looked downtrodden, lilyb:( . . . but on the way home we went on into the "main" downtown - where the Pyramid looking arena is & the famous Beale St. section? That area looked like AWESOME fun - someday I shall return there when the lure of the gambling cotton fields of Tunica aren't calling!:dizzy:

Hope you & leo are feeling better beachie! It sure has cooled down here in MO - after a huge rainstorm/high winds. Hope its headed your way!

Just finished up catching up with everyone's news . . . you sure are busy bouncing! My Big Sis that planned the whole trip just retired in December - she's been a huge help in my life (14 yrs older than me) . . . I'd like to see her get involved in some similar activities as you . . . and maybe a few less Gambling Trips, ya know?

Congrats to everyone with their weight losses and Hang In There to those with scale fluctuations! I can become obsessed with the scale - this time around I'm just looking at it as an indicator/motivator - I think when I get down to a more normal weight, I could go to once every 2 weeks or once a month.

We'll see!;)
