Hello all--I've been slacking for the past week with the diet, but I have kept up exercising and I'm down a lb this week. I was on a 6 day work week, with Tuesday off (school though) only to start the week again yesterday with a double....I'm sick of WAITING on people! :devil:
However my good news is that I've actually been on my *diet* for one month exactly today! I've been exercising for a whole month too and they say that doing something consistently for 3 months, becomes a habit..so one down...two to go!! I may not have lost as much as I wanted this month, but I feel better. And that's what matters. Goals for this next month include: 1.Less beer 2.More arm training 3.Measure myself (I wish I would have done this in the beginning) 4.Give up more cheese 5.Introduce a bike workout Lily-Congrats on your 2 lb loss! Was it hard to switch to low-cal? Oooo, and I hope you had fun fishing, I LOVE to fish! Jae-I used to work for a major retail chain, and if your inventory is anything like the one they had, I FEEL FOR YOU!! It was AWFUL! Not to mention tedious. Only 1.5 days left for you! And congrats on your 3 lb loss! BB-glad you're feeling well! I'm very jealous of your beach walking ability, lol. Its pretty dreary here today, but at least I can have the windows open for fresh air. I'm going to try bike riding again soon. Its been so long, I hope I remember how to ride it, lol. Paula-WOW...great job on fighting and beating your cravings!! It must be hard to have to handle the *enemy* Stay strong! You can do this! :) Robin-Good luck with your store! I should set monthly goals like you did. Thats a great idea,:idea: I love walking along the beach. Finally the weather is getting nicer to do so. We had a long winter and I had to rely on my stationary :ebike: bike. I'm going to think of my mini monthly goals so I could set set mine up for next month also. Thanks:thanks: for the idea. Hey guys!!!! Beachbum, it is raining like crazy where I am in sunny Florida!!! We couldn't even go outside today!!!! 11 two yr. olds inside all day!!!! We had fun though. Lily, yes, I am a firm believer in the sf jello!!! I love the peach kind. Well today I did not have the super bad sugar cravings, so that was a good thing. I haven't been too terribly hungry either. I W-I this morning and I MAINTAINED again. I have a question about protein. When we are low carbing, how much protein do we have to eat. I'm having 4 oz of meat, poultry or fish. Is that enough or should I double the amount to 8 oz of protein??????????????? My carb range I think is ok as I'm between 28 to 35 per day. Nikki-Congrats :congrat: on your 9 lbs loss,you doing fantastic on Atkins. Wish I could get my ticker moving down like you did. Paula-You're doing great:congrat: on your weight loss also. I'm eating more than meat. Just don't know if 4 oz of meat per meal is enough.I have protein & veggies along with a salad for lunch & dinner and eggs, sausages or low carb pancakes , V8 & soy milk for breakfast. Hugs :) BB |
BB~ I pump up the protein intake when Im overly hungry. 3oz is a regular serving, I eat probably double that per meal. Or 20grams of protein, as in my protein shake has 20 grams per serving. I wouldnt worry about it to much if you are still seeing losses and arent hungry.
If you are trying to get that last few lbs off, Id shake things up a bit. Once your body gets used to what you always do, it will do what it always does. So change things up, cut some things out, add other things, put in an extra day of exercise, and see what happens. |

Hi everyone, I've been having a great time camping and fishing and am going back tomorrow evening. We've caught a lot of fish and had such fun socializing with family and friends. I've tried my best to stick to the healthiest food options at each meal. (which is hard because my sister cooks a lot of really fattening foods). I've been able to resist the cake, the chips and dip, the baked beans, the chili-cheese dogs, the fried potatoes, the macaroni and cheese. I did munch on several apples but that was about all she had that was reasonably healthy.
GetUpandgo, Transitioning to calorie counting wasn't too awfully difficult for me. My problem was I really had no idea how many calories to try to mainain at. So, I chose 1500-1600. Right now, I'm trying to stay at 1200 a day until I get these other 2 lbs. off that I had gained. I also had a little problem with all the added food choices. I'm still sticking mainly to meat, salad, green veggies plus fruit. Usually no milk except occasionally soy or skim milk. I changed to eating the wheat variety in anything it's available in. Ex. wheat bread, wheat buns, wheat pancakes, wheat pasta, whole grain rice. I had gotten so tired of eggs that I rarely ever eat an egg anymore. I think my woe is pretty balanced and healthy. But, occasionally I'll eat some baked chiips or other lower calorie snack food. BB, Phase 10 card game is more like UNO. |
Lily....WOW...you deserve more than a pat on the back for being able to *say no* to all of those temptations!!! Good for you!!!
Thanks for the insight if calorie counting. I'm trying to wean myself off of the full atkins diet this week, and this gives me promise. Nothing wrong with it, but it just isn't working for me anymore :) I think I would feel better, with less fat consumption. Nothing else really new with me, except I'm really taking my feelings into consideration this time around. I either want to eat pizza because I'm pissed...and then I don't really need it.....or I REALLY want it...and then I have SOME..with a salad. Its all about listening to myself...and the 20 books I've read over the past few years, w/o really reading them, lol. I'm so glad I get it this time. Cheers!! :D:D:D |

I'm getting to the point that Atkins is working for me any more either just like Getupandgo. I just came off of a low carb web site that said not all people can go as low as 20 gram of carbs per day. We have to find the right balance of carbs. I've been trying the 30 -35 range and find that I rocking back and forth on this 1 lb. The web site said that some people need 40-45 range. I think thats too high for me. QUESTION should I go back to the induction??????????? Or should I stay on the OWL and keep experimenting with the number of carb intake. Scared as I don't want to gain any more, than I have from my last cruise[10-lbs]That I took in Nov 2006. Does anyone know the answer to my question. Desperate, Hugs :) BB |
