Deficit of 235 yesterday, not much. Did very well on exercise (well okay, I forgot to lift, that can happen tonight) but went overboard on eating. Keep debating if I should try to up my "limit" of calories, or something of the nature. It's not that I feel hungry at 1200 but I think I feel deprived or I wouldn't be always eating 200 calories or so above it. However I'm sure if I consistently ate that much I'd stop losing at all, and it's already a snail's pace. What I really need to add in is regular exercise, but I don't have the motivation. They say to add something you really enjoy, but I don't know if physical activity is something I'll ever really enjoy. I think the only thing I love that much is food, or sleep! :D Anyways, I will think on it, I did some DDR last night which was fun but I know that is a hard habit to keep up.

Philosopher 08-16-2006 04:39 AM

Surplus of about 200 yesterday - small things add up:o

floridarusty 08-16-2006 09:16 AM

Finally got my computer back and can get back on track. I noticed the last couple of days I'm adding a bit more food at dinner and that is where Fitday helps me, seeing how many calories I have left at dinner time.

Back on track, starting today.....

Phyllis

It's good to see you back Phyllis!

LynneA 08-16-2006 11:51 AM

Morning ladies,

I'm still here. Well so much for August being a great new month, I've spent most of it sick. Sometimes I feel I can't win for losing.

Hoping to get back to the gym next week, this week looks to be another write off. Next month promises to be nice and stressful: I've got my mum coming over to visit me for 12 days on Sept 1st and on Sept 9th, DH and I are renewing our vows (we didn't have a wedding the first time, we did the courthouse thing and with mum being here we thought now is as good a time as any to do a blessing). I've been up to my neck organising the blessing and trying to get our spare room ready for mum and working. I'm likely unable to get to the gym during that time so will need to make sure I eat as well as I can to compensate lack of exercise.

I will still try check in with you guys though, I miss your support when I don't visit.

Still no weight loss/change either although I expect I might have put on a couple lbs from the last 2 weeks.

Stephanie Osborne 08-16-2006 03:37 PM

1200 Deficit yesterday just was not all that hungry and worked out like it was going out of style. Today is looking to be a higher calorie day so should all work out.

blues4miles 08-16-2006 07:36 PM

Deficit of a mere 217 yesterday, once again did not do so well on the sweets. Lifted weights for over an hour so feel very good about that, hopefully will see the effort of this upper-body weight routine if I can keep up this level of effort.

Philosopher 08-17-2006 02:50 AM

Deficit of 632 yesterday. :D

Weigh-in today: lost 0,44 pounds, broke through my 194 barrier. :carrot:

Stephanie Osborne 08-17-2006 12:18 PM

Well ladies came in with a 403 deficit for yesterday. Went a little haywire on the food which is to blame for the low number. Did make it to the gym and got a strength session in which at least helped a little.

blues - I did upper body last night as well. SO strange when I first started weight training that is one area I hardly ever worked out...thought I didnt need to have strong arms, back and shoulders. But that is always the strength routine that I feel most successful with once I am done. Great job getting over an hour in...and hey a deficit is a deficit!

philosopher - great job 632 is awesome :) And congrats on the loss as well.

srmb60 08-17-2006 01:22 PM

I'm not sure what my deficit was. I was way under calories yesterday. It's apparently migraine time around here. And I'm going on my fourth day of niggling discomfort.
I'd better get at my errands here so that I can try to sleep this one off a little later this aft. I wonder if ibuprophen would help enough for me to go for a nice relaxing walk.

Philosopher 08-18-2006 08:39 AM

Had a surplus yesterday. Heading for one today as well. Hope the weekend will be better:dizzy:

srmb60 08-18-2006 09:00 AM

A 300 cal or so deficit for me yesterday. Better still ... I actually woke up this morning without a headache and went for a nice early walk!

floridarusty 08-18-2006 09:40 AM

I still haven't done Fitday this week, I promise I'll start today. But I have been doing very well and think I'm down another lb. now but I WI on Mondays.

Still so hot & humid here in Florida, I walk a little with my Doberman when the sun goes down but I am still doing a few miles/wk with my walking DVD....I need to up that.

But a steady 1 lb./wk loss is OK with me, hopefully it will stay off this time.

Phyllis (off to Fitday!!!!)

blues4miles 08-18-2006 11:04 AM

Day behind here, deficit of 0 the day before yesterday :o and a much better 592 deficit yesterday. Trying to kick my sugar addiction habits, real test will be the weekend. Made very healthy chicken fajita thing yesterday, might make some more tonight (I guess I am a creature of habit). Work has been tough this week, I don't think it's responsible for my bad eating but it hasn't helped my attitude. Hopefully things here will improve next week, I am so happy it is the weekend after today.

srmb60 08-18-2006 11:12 AM

I met a gal on another board who seriously eats almost the same things day after day after day. She says she doesn't really get bored and if she does, she just thinks of something new.
BTW ... she's 109 lbs and lifts weights!

TiffRidesAHarley 08-18-2006 03:58 PM

Ok, some one explain, calorie deficient?? What is this?? How are you figuring it out? I want an explanation. I use fitday also, but I just track calories, excercise, V&M. What is it with this calorie deficiency?? I want to know.

Valerie Joy 08-18-2006 11:44 PM

I've been still having a hard time. I averaged 1900 calories a day for the last week. It's no wonder I'm not loosing any weight even with all the working out I'm doing.

At least I'm keeping up with journaling and I know what I'm eating. And at the least I'm not gaining. But I do need to get my calories down!

srmb60 08-19-2006 07:45 AM

Hi Tiffany! A deficit is the difference between the calories you eat and the calories you use. If you use 2000 cals a day but only eat 1500, you have a deficit of 500.

It's pretty difficult to get a certain handle on your usage. You pretty much have to tweak and fiddle with the numbers. But we can try to work backwards for you. How long has it taken you to lose your 47 lbs.
Btw ... that's awesome!!!

floridarusty 08-19-2006 09:40 AM

Had a 1168 deficit yesterday......oh and stayed right under my 1400 goal....
Good day.

Phyllis

May 1st. I know I have been losing an average of about 3lbs a week. I was just wondering with this deficiency if you are basing it on over all calories burned or just basal. My basal is 1763 and I eat anywhere from 900-1300 calories per day. So according to the 3500 = 1 lb equation, the I would be eating too much to lose that amount of weight. I just wanted to see how you girls were figuring it. Now that I have reached the "over half" point, I want to step up my workouts and build a little more muscle to get toned. I just wanted a little extra information on your math and what factors you use.

Thanks

srmb60 08-19-2006 05:22 PM

Thanks Tiffany, I love more numbers to fiddle with ... hmmm then according to the scientific -icity of it .... you have a deficit of 10500 cals a week or 1500 a day. That does seem like lots, doesn't it.
Or does it? You move through life, exercise etc. That's a total usage of between 2400 and 2800, right? Some folks say 11 times your weight. Could be ... actually, yes, I agree with that.

srmb60 08-20-2006 02:56 PM

I had about a 300 cal deficit yesterday which is OK since we we're 'scoot out and buy a little something to eat' people :)

srmb60 08-20-2006 09:20 PM

I'm off to bed with about an 800 cal deficit today. I'm sooo tired I don't know if I could tell if I'm hungry or not. Better be careful tomorrow.
How's the weekend been?

floridarusty 08-21-2006 12:00 PM

Week-end was ok calorie wise...but yesterday I had too many salty foods and extra salt added with fresh veggies (like green onions, radishes, etc) that I love salt with.

Will down the water today and watch the salt for sure. Salt is something I try to avoid but I have to admit it tasted good for a change. Back on track today.

Deficit of 350 yesterday:carrot:

srmb60 08-22-2006 08:41 AM

I think I had about a 300 cal deficit yesterday too. I haven't been to fitday this morning, yet. But I'm pretty sure that's what I recall from last night.

LynneA 08-22-2006 09:21 AM

Morning.

Deficit yesterday of 634.

Stephanie Osborne 08-22-2006 10:46 AM

Good deficit from yesterday, great way to start out the week. Looking for another one today *fingers crossed*

blues4miles 08-22-2006 03:07 PM

A bit behind, but still here.
Friday: 471 :D
Saturday: 220 :)
Sunday: 249 :)
Monday: 342 :D
Didn't log all the cleaning I did on Sunday prior to my future in-laws coming over for dinner, but should be close enough. Scale is still holding pretty even. I'd like to think it's because I've been lifting and am gaining muscle, but it is just more likely I am not pulling off the deficits I need for a loss. I guess I am satisfied with that for now, I know that keeping going and trying is helping me maintain.

Valerie Joy 08-22-2006 08:23 PM

I averaged 1900 calories a day for last week and had about a 4000 calorie deficit. I'm hoping to see a loss on my weigh day on friday!

Great deficits Miles!

Philosopher 08-23-2006 02:37 AM

Nice deficit of 531 yesterday:D :D :D

LynneA 08-23-2006 09:01 AM

Deficit yesterday of 791.

floridarusty 08-23-2006 09:32 AM

I am having a hard time getting back to recording my foods at Fitday for some reason. Doing well with the food and down another lb. .... Don't know what my problem is....I'll blame it on the heat!!! lol

Phyllis

Stephanie Osborne 08-23-2006 01:21 PM

732 deficit yesterday. In fact had to eat a little more than I needed just so I would not come in too low on calories, haven't had one of THOSE days in forever.

blue - you know maintaining is not THAT bad, not a loss though that is for sure.

valerie - I'm keeping my fingers crossed for ya!

floridarusty - I hear ya, I HATE HATE HATE tracking all my food. But I can really tell a difference when I just wing it :(

Philosopher 08-24-2006 03:00 AM

Deficit of 550 yesterday:carrot:

Weighed in this morning - down 1,5 pounds :carrot: :D :carrot:

LynneA 08-24-2006 09:37 AM

No deficit for me yesterday but I treat myself to my favourite mexican restaurant last night so I wasn't expecting one.

Congrats on the loss Philosopher.

Stephanie Osborne 08-24-2006 03:53 PM

741 deficit for me, scale is still in the downward motion thank goodness

philosopher - yay on the 1.5 lbs...good work!

lynne - we all need a treat every once in a while :)

Philosopher 08-25-2006 05:27 AM

Celebrated too much yesterday - surplus. Heading for one today too:o

srmb60 08-25-2006 08:57 AM

I had awesome plans last evening. I finished the packing I was doing, had a gorgeous salad in front of CSI and then did a nice round with some dumbells.
But then CSI MIami came on! I even went upstairs to watch in bed but during an ad I went back down stairs and made a peanutbutter and jam sandwich!

But I only had ONE! And I still have a deficit so .... not so bad but not the awesome plan I had either.

Philosopher? Can you just wedge in a little bit of walking or something. I can usually forgive myself faster if I quickly do something good.

LynneA 08-25-2006 08:59 AM

Deficit yesterday of 600.

I broke my funk with circuit training also this morning. I'd been concerned because I hadn't been getting my heart rate up into calorie burning zone whilst circuit training. I took a good look at my circuit this morning and tweaked it some. I added some dumbbell weights to some exercises and vowed to at least try and do the max of 20 reps per exercise (I had been slacking this I admit). Well, I kicked my own *** today. My heart rate monitor was telling me that I was well in the calorie burning zone pretty much the whole session. All I had to do was try harder. After 2 sets I was done.

I just hope that this newfound lightbulb/enthusiasm lasts throughout next week.
