Hi all,
My scale wasn't as happy today as yesterday. I'd better keep a closer watch.

Melissa hurray thats a great point, 20 lbs

Michele, I hadn't heard about the heat there, do you have a/c. ICK I can't stand the heat.

Ripples, that is very sad.

Rebeca, I just look at the calories consumed. If I could keep to my goal of 1275 I'm sure I would lose. I know when I was 141 lbs I was eating around 1135 calories - maybe a little more. I'm 5'4". Now I'm older and the metabolism is slower. But I'm trying to walk daily. So I raised it to the 1275.

Hey pebbles and blues!! good to see some old faces here again I was feeling lonely! .

Deficit yesterday of 900 which I'm very happy about.

I was a maniac at the gym this morning, was superwoman my first circuit, managed 20 dips, 10 pull ups and 8 leg raises and tucks! Of course, the 2nd and 3rd sets I only managed 14 dips, 8 pull ups and 7 raises and tucks but I improved some today. I love circuit training, although I don't like how my arms feel right now, kinda like a jello feeling going on in my shoulders . Couldn't hardly carry my gym bag into the office when I got to work .

Ripples - we live in the boonies too so I'm pretty sure my cat has you know what. Yours still has time to come back and I hope she does, I'm sure my little bob isn't coming back though.

Mel - 2lbs is great, well done.

MELISSA & ELYSE -- We did have an AC, but something was wrong with it and we took it back. We live in a townhouse and just have several fans. This heat seems to be the worst I've ever experienced in my 38 years here in Oregon! They are saying that it's supposed to cool down to 90F today, and then in the 80s for the rest of the week.

Michelle-I sweat just thinking of you!! Take care of yourself and just keep drinking lots of water.
Mel-Great job on the 2 lbs!!:}} Doesn't that feel GREAT?!
Lisi-My scale was up too 1lb. TOM came to visit a week early again for the third month in a row. Maybe it's a sign of "meno" setting in. I'm 49 in a few months and have ALWAYS been on time, so I think I'm starting to go thru my changes. Don't know HOW to feel about that?!
Lynne-sounds like you had a great workout! I forced myself to do my eliptical today, but I felt much better once I got going. So sorry about your little bob too-sigh. I need to wash my windows badly, but am having a hard time b/c Layla left her little kitty "kiss marks" all over my 6 ft. long kitchen window above my sink and I feel like I'm washing away part of her. I HAVE to do it though. It's getting harder to see out my window between pollen, dust, etc. What a SAP I am!!! After lunch I WILL wash my windows. Wonder how many calories that burns-LOL!! Take care all. Keepin' the faith...Dawn

Rebeca - that *might* be more accurate. I find for me that if my activity level is set on bed-bound/sedentary the "basal" amount they give is close to my normal maintenance level when sitting around doing nothing. I bet it'd be higher if I had more regular activity in my day, or had more muscle on me. I found out the "real" number through trial and error, and just use Fitday's basal as it gradually brings me down about 10-20 calories every 1lb or so I lose.

ripples57 - I know how you feel about losing a pet, it is like losing a member of the family and I don't think anything is wrong with you if you need to grieve for it. Wish you the best.

Donna - welcome back!

Michelle - wow, I didn't know it got hot in Oregon, especially not THAT hot, that is amazing!

Mel67 - WTG!!

LynneA - wow, wtg on the gym, that is awesome! you will be buff and svelt in no time!

Deficit of 662 for myself yesterday (whee). Did not eat much, but did okay. No "bad" foods, and even got some fruit in with a little leftover for today. Also did 30 minutes on the DDR pad last night, and am logging again on the Presidential Fitness Challenge with a goal of 5 days a week of 30 minutes or more of activity. I managed to hit 6 weeks of that before so had probably been about 3 months of regular activity in there. Hoping to add in *more* weight lifting this time, and try to make it all a regular habit. Freak thunderstorm this morning but I missed it as was in a room at work with no windows. Kinda bummed, I do like a little storm here and there, we don't get them much. Take care ladies!

MILES... In the 38 years of living in Oregon, it has never gotten that hot! The weather just seems to get more different all the time!

RIPPLES... I'm still so sorry to hear that your kitty is missing.

I haven't seen Susan on here for awhile. Has anyone heard from her and is everything going okay?

Hi! So how are you all calculating your deficit numbers for the day? Is that something FitDay does for you?

Michelle, I live in Oregon too and have lived here for 38 years too!! I keep telling people that the weather is really unusual for us especially for this time of year!! It was awful on Sunday and Monday!! Thank goodness I have central air but Sunday I worked 16 hours and my work does not have good air conditioning and it was miserable. It was 90 according to my car temp thing when I went out today, felt A LOT better than Sunday and Monday, I'm really hoping those 80's come in like they were supposed to for the rest of the week!!

SUSAN... I like your new pic! At first I didn't recognize your post, but then I figured out that I have seen you around the board.

MELODY... That is so funny that we're both from Oregon and both have lived here for 38 years! I totally agree with you about Sunday and Monday; it was just so unbearable! I'm so glad tonight it's supposed to get down in the 50s instead of the 80s like last night, perfect sleeping weather!

SUSAN... I forgot to mention that I'm sure one of the ladies will be able to answer your deficit question. That is something I still have a hard time with!

Thanks for the kind words ladies, "workout queen" thanks Donna!

Deficit yesterday of around 700, would have been over 1000 but I gave in to cheese AND ice cream last night . I really have to stop doing that!

Val, Blues, Donna - good job on those deficits!

I had another top session at the gym this morning, some interval training on the treadmill then elliptical work.

Hubbie commented this morning how "thin" I was looking, it made my day! Most of my weight is on my tummy/abdomen and I have noticed that the spare tire I have just under my bust seems to be getting smaller. At least I hope it is! I hate my tummy fat!

Have a great day everyone.

hockeyfan7 - I know by practice what my "maintenance" calories are (I go by the baseline on Fitday, 1461 for me at the moment), add in calories burnt through exercise, than subtract what I ate. Finding your real maintenance number might be the hardest part in all of that, mine was through trial and error, doing the math after I'd lost some weight, and seeing what I could maintain at when I went "off" my diet.

Valerie - nice deficit, wtg!

Donna - nice deficit still, can't deny yourself everything. I know what you mean on the exercise return, that is a toughy for me as well.

Melody - hope it cools down!

Lynne - wow, excellent exercise! How sweet of your husband to say that, I'll bet that'd make *any* girl's day!

Day 3 for me without useless sugar. Trying to give it up for a while as I know when I have it I just crave more. Silly waste of calories will end up turning into a whole week off plan. Aaanyways, just about broke even yesterday: deficit of 150ish or so. Went a little overboard for dinner, made up for it by doing 30 minutes of a new weight routine. Am loosely basing it on the Body For Life plan (upper body one day, lots of reps that focus on one muscle group at a time). Hopefully that will work out, I am really lacking in the "muscle" area. Anyways, hope today goes better. Am getting together with my future mother-in-law, and then afterwards with my mother and sister. Hopefully I will survive the day

Thanks ladies! That makes sense -- you are basically not eating back your exercise calories. Calorie King works on a similar premise with net calories.
