What's your favorite?

  • Okay, I was in the middle of a shopping list and decided to post an informal poll, so I can get some new ideas!

What is your favorite low cal item? I'll start out by listing two of my faves, both in the condiment or "extras" category.

    1.) yellow mustard
2.) jalepeno slices (less than 4-5 cals for 14 slices, with the added benefit of the heat getting your metabolism going a little)
  • Hmm . . . great topic! Let's see . . .

    1. Cherry tomatoes
    2. Blueberries
    3. Sugar-free pudding!
    4. Herbs, dried & fresh
    5. Salsa

This is making me hungry lol
  • Hm, so many to choose from...

    1)Coffee (black)
    2)Fat free sour cream
    3)Fat free whip cream
    4)Hot sauce
5)All the veggies I should be eating
  • Some favorites that haven't been listed yet:

    baked Tostitos
    soup base
Kraft fat-free mayo + eggs = egg salad
low cal, low carb whole wheat bread
    fat-free dressings: Catalina, ranch, Italian
tea (chocolate caramel chai or herbal)
gum (to keep me from shoving other things in my face )
  • Some of my favorites:

    grape or cherry tomatoes
    baby carrots
    grape flavored water

Has anyone found a good low-fat salad dressing? I am diabetic and most of the low-fat dressings use sugar to replace the fat, and I find them too sweet for me. Normally I just use a small amount of the real thing. Any suggestions??? Thanks

    Terina
  • I love cooking with minced garlic and olive oil.

    1. sugar free jello
    2. brocolli
    3. southbeach oatmeal choc chip cookies
    4. newmans own organic pretzels (made with wheat not white flour)
    5. feta cheese on a lot of what I cook

Im on the sonoma diet. The pretzels may not be the best, but its way better than doritos.

    Look forward to hearing more.
  • Baby Spinach (I put it in salads, on sandwiches, in wraps, etc)
    Fat-free cottage cheese
Egg whites (and frozen mini omelet's that I buy, 60 cals each)
    Tomatoes
    Canned tuna
    Canned soups
    Mini rice cakes
    Most all veggies
  • I found this black bean dip that's 25 calories per tablespoon. I'll have a couple tbsps of that spread on Wasa crackers. Yum!

I also like all-fruit spreads. My blueberry spread is only 30 cals per tablespoon, which I'll smother on low carb bread.

What's that, like a jam or a cream cheese? I looooooove anything blueberry.
  • string cheese
dannon fit'n light strawberry banana smoothie
    lean pockets four cheese pizza
easy mac (add 1/2 tsp margarine and 1 tsp skim milk and still under 300 cal)
1 cup cold cereal with 1 cup skim milk
  • LLV, the fruit spread is like jam. It's in the same department at the store. It's great stuff, though kinda high in carbs. It's so nice on bread or crackers!

I got the blueberry stuff (it's called Wild Blueberry Fruit Spread by 365 Foods) at Whole Foods. 1 tbsp = 30 cals, 7g carbs, 0 protein

    I also have Smucker's Simply 100% Fruit strawberry flavor. 1 tbsp = 40 cals, 10g carbs, 0 protein.
  • ff cottage cheese, ff yogurt and berries .... I just had some!

I don't worry about carbs, I've never counted them

Thanks for the info, it sounds wonderful!
