Wtf EVOO?!?!?

  • Holy calories batman!

I had no idea extra virgin olive oil had so many calories! I used one lousy tablespoon with my mushrooms, and it wasn't even worth it :-(

    Super sad
  • I quit using olive oil awhile back. So many other things I can eat.
  • I guess it's one of those things that you have to choose between the high calories and the high nutrition content....
  • You can get an olive oil mister! Those things are great!
  • I love mushrooms and have been sauteing them in chicken broth , garlic and onions plus my Italian seasoning. Very flavorful. I still use EVOO in occasion..... Just way less of it.
  • A lot of my calories come from olive oil actually. TO me, it's worth! That and nuts make up most of my "big" calories. If I ever became allergic to nuts, I would be in TROUBLE.
  • I use olive oil too, I don't eat fish so it is a source of omega 3 for me.
  • i personally love olive oil. i have actual olive oil, an olive oil mister, olive oil based mayonnaise, and olive oil "buttery spread". and they don't seem to be too high-calorie to me, 1 tbsp of the mayo is only 60 calories, and 1 tbsp of the "butter" is 50.
  • I've been using less oil, but I do like my olive oil on fish or sauteed veggies. Just look for lower-calorie versions and use a little less. Either way, olive oil is good for you and there are studies that show that it helps fight fat.
  • I hate to admit that I am terrible for remembering to count my EVOO! I should just start adding a default tsp or two to everything I cook
  • Yeah, it's a LOT! I only started CC about a week back to keep a lid on my stress eating, and I'm managing to combine it with IE through some kind of nutso alchemy, but no way in the world would I give up my olive oil! I'm eating some right now actually that I used to marinate my lamb chops. One thing I learned when I started IE is that healthy fats don't actually make me fat... They just stop me getting hungry!

I think it's like buying expensive foundation... Go bargain basement on some things, sure, but others are well worth paying significantly extra calories for. And a ludicrously tasty, healthy appetite suppressant is one of those things!

If you're not that fussed about olive oil, but you want to spend big on something else, it might be worth it

I'm the same with nuts and avocados, but olive oil I've been able to do without.
  • I go out of my way to have olive oil every day because I believe it has health benefits. I Put a tbs on my salad every day, and I cook with it too. Hasn't affected my weight loss. Like others, I eat nuts every day too.

I think it just comes down to finding the foods you like in the quantities you can tolerate.
