Cold Cereal options?

I am a big lover of cold cereal lol - but most are soooooo high in sugar and calories, anyone have an options of some low calorie cereals that aren't bland tasting?

I love Quaker Corn Bran Crunch!

Serving is 3/4 cup
90 calories
Total Fat 1g, no trans fat & cholestrol is 0
Sodium 210 mg
Total Carb 23
Fiber 4g
Protein 2g
Sugar 6 g

I actually like fiber 1. I don't have the info at hand, but it's a high fiber cereal, and it has a great nutty taste. A serving is half a cup, but put some fruit or yogurt with it and you're set.

Shredded wheat, no sugar, no sodium, grape nuts is low, too.

Tenoreo90 01-12-2013 12:24 PM

^Agree on the Grape Nuts...super filling because it's super dense! I love cold cereal too, but I find if I start my day with a lot of sugar I'm almost guaranteed to go over my allotted calories.

Fiber One or Fiber Plus. Walmart should have them! There are two Fiber One cereals that are 80 calories a serving now. The newest one is chocolate..It's no coco puffs but it is good, you can always add splenda. The other one tastes like golden grahms. You can add cinnamon to that too.

Rule of thumb, look for calorie to fiber ratios! If the calories are ridiculous for less than 5 grams don't do it!

I like original Fiber One (little twigs) with unsweetened vanilla almond milk.

Special k of your choice (I like blueberry) with almond milk (130 cals )

I like Special K, and Total is full of nutrients (but with total you might want to add fruit because it's kind of bland). With low calorie milk, they're in about the 150 range, I believe.

fiber 1 honey clusters is my fave - I don't really eat it for breakfast much, more as a sweet snack

Right now I am enjoying the multi grain peanut butter cheerios. Soooo yummy. Enough peanut butter to have adequate flavor in the cereal. Too many "healthy" cereals have a cardboard kind of taste to them. Like if I do eat total, I mix it with special k or something like it. There's also a really good kashi cereal with dried strawberries in it that is really good too.

Get out. I haven't seen these yet and it's taking all my willpower not to leave work and run to the closest grocery store. ;) I used to get Peanut Butter Panda Puffs to have as dessert(as a replacement for my beloved Capt'n Crunch Peanut Butter flavor), but they're pretty much empty carbs so I've let those go for now. But whole grain AND peanut butter? I'll have to check them out.

I'm a big fan of Cheerios, rice chex and Kashi honey sunshine.

You could switch to a non-dairy milk and save calories!

Special K cereals are SO good. You should try them. I personally have a problem with cereal.... I eat it all lol So I keep it out of the house unless it comes in a one serving box.

janeyg25 01-14-2013 05:14 PM

Special K and Chex have some really great flavor options, and they don't make you feel guilty about eating them!

suzyslimdown 01-15-2013 12:33 AM

Fiber one original here too, a 1/2 cup serving is only 60 calories, so I usually add about 1/4 cup of peanutbutter cheerios, or special k into the mix. I like cereal for my evening snack.
