How long do I give it?

I've been following my fitness pal calorie recommendations for almost two weeks now. I'm pms-ing so I know my weight is fluctuating but I haven't really seen a drop yet. How long do I give it before I start play around with my calories?

I'm thinking if after my period I still haven't seen a drop from my original weight then I will do it...

I would give it a month of solid dedication before you start to change things up. Especially when you factor in TOM and all that jazz- you could have a big whoosh coming up!

Good luck :)

I'm with danzingurl - there are so many factors that could be causing a mini-plateau. Stay patient, stay on plan, and if after a month you are not seeing any changes (measurements or weight), start to reassess your plan.

Alright, a month it is.

A month is always a good idea as a starting point.

And generally speaking, try not to change to many variables from month to month. Ideally one thing would change, that way you can pinpoint the effectiveness of that change rather than trying to guess whether it was one of three or four or five things or a combination of all!

Oh that makes total sense to me Geraldine. It's a science experiment. Must control for all variables ;)

I'll keep your thoughts in mind, thanks

I agree, the pms and tom are a struggle for most every woman. I think after you get over that hurdle you'll be feeling better about your goals/accomplishments. My last one had my scale teasing everrytime I stepped on it.

Yeah, I guess I just hoped to see something in the first few weeks.

It doesn't help I'm not drinking enough water. My fluid fluctuations are nutty.

my TOM, I can easily hold 20+ lbs in water weight. It's horrible. It sucks, and it takes any diet at least one month to take hold.

Just be patient. It took time to gain weight, it takes time to take it off :)
