Myfitnesspal success???

I just signed up for myfitness pal yesterday and was wondering how well it worked?? I really like it so far and it seems pretty easy to use, just wondering how accurate it is? Also what kind of success you are having with it? Thanks!

I really like it and I have found the calorie counts really close. I have my account linked with my fitbit and that keeps me motivated to move more.

I enjoy the ability to use it on my phone, but I suggest once you become familiar with it to look up your own bmr and input those numbers cause sometimes it gives lower calories than what you probably should be eating

I LOVE MFP! I have lost just about all my weight using the app and exercising about 4 times a week (walking/jogging & elpitical). I normally do not eat my exercising calories back. Best of luck to you!!

I love it! I find it easy to use, and so far, the weight is coming off at a decent rate so I'd say it's pretty accurate. I think with anything like this you just have to try it for a while and see how you like it.

Best of luck!

I love it. My favorite is the bar-code option on my iPhone, so easy to enter food that way :) I re-started my diet on Sunday Oct 21st and have lost 3 and 1/2 pounds so far.

Feel free to add me (anyone :) )

I love excel spreadsheets, food journals, and other little "trackers" so for me MPF is just another fun tool that helps me feel more organized. I don't use their 'program' but instead customize my own numbers and just use it as a tool to count up my macronutrient ratios for me.

I have no issue counting calories in my little notebook, but manually counting up grams of protein, carbs, fats and fiber is a little too tedious, even for me. :)

I have lost 36lbs in 3 months using MFP. I love the large library of food. I agree the barcode reader is so easy. I would stay away from the 1200 calorie limit that you want to start with. I did that and could not exercise because I was so tired and weak.

I completely agree. I often just count up the calories and stay mindful of whether or not my meal has enough fiber, too much fat, etc.

By the way - If anyone wants to add me, I'm here: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/quinners31

I just wanted to make an amendment to my last post about My Fitness Pal -

Before My Fitness Pal: Lost 16.1 pounds in four months.
After My Fitness Pal: Lost 15 pounds in three months.

It's not an astounding rate of weight loss, but it definitely accelerated once I started faithfully journaling my caloric intake and exercise. Just sayin'.

MyFitnessPal has always been really great for me. I've lost over 50lbs using it, and when I recalibrated my goals a few months back, it showed me needing 1800 calories a day. After getting a Bodymedia band, I found out that I'm burning 2900~3000 a day, so it was really close.

I think it all depends on how you use it, though. Don't cheat your body by not adding in everything you eat, or by lowballing the calories. If you're accurate with it, it should be accurate with you.

I love it. I lost all my weight using it, and still use it now. The accountability of having my MFP friends watching my logging was absolutely key for me.

I'm joolzsd there if you want to add me.

Ok ladies. I've been using the LoseIt app and have lost over 20 pounds with it. Have any of you used both apps? I'm curious to know your opinion if you have. I may consider a switch if MFP is better.

gymrat05 11-13-2012 01:12 PM

Moving Forward - I have an iPhone and I felt MFP was superior to LoseIt in terms of the number of foods in the database and the barcode scanner. I would look up foods using LoseIt with the barcode and get an error...and MFP would find them no problem.

woodsy09 11-13-2012 04:43 PM

I, too really love the MFP bar code scanner.

I can attest to its greatness with my success so far. I would not have even begun my journey without it.

I have a few friends and family members who use the loseit site but they have all stopped logging anything at all. My MFP friends are much more diligent.
