Amazing how what you eat makes a difference..

Historically I've always been a calorie counter but when I hit my plateau I did 20g or less of carbs a day for 4 weeks with just counting carbs instead of calories. I was hoping the shift would get the scale moving again.
While it did a little bit, I didn't lose as much weight as I felt I should have so I have been back calorie counting.

However, I learned a few things on my low carb stint. The empty calories in white flour products, sugar and starchy things just made me hungrier. Ever since cutting them out of my diet I am hardly ever hungry. I never feel ravenous. So I have absolutely no plans on adding them back into my diet except on occasional "fun days". But for me, this is the first time I've counted calories AND given up "simple carbs" and I find I can pack much more nutritious food into my diet! I really love not battling hunger and I feel I can actually eat a higher volume of "real" food because I am not wasting calories on french fries, bread, cereal bars, crackers, etc or other processed foods.

Don't know why it took me so long to figure it out but :D

im a calorie/macronutrient counter (which i love) i switched all my "whites" to whole grains and i must say that i love the change! i feel full longer, get full on less, and actually love the taste of it all much better than the whites!

Carbs have always been my worst enemy. I tried low carbing it before and it didnt work at all for me. But I've switched to whole grains like dangerous has. And I eat a bit more carbs on my high calorie days. But the whole wheat foods are definitely more filling.
I loved how full i felt on low carb, but once i had a bit of carbs that was it and it was all for nothing.

I should say, 20g of "net" carbs. I would minus the fiber carbs from the total carb count.
I ate mostly salad veggies and limited higher carb veggies like broccoli to 1 cup per day.

I ate mostly chicken or fish & veggies! I added in a few strawberries & nuts eventually.

I am not doing 20g anymore though :-) I just don't eat grains of any kind at the moment because I like how I feel with out them.

Someone suggested to me I should incorporate protein in every meal and I've found that it helps keeping me fuller.

Yes!

Sugars and processed flours also make me starving! I eat them extremely rarely, and I'm better off for it.
