Seeing a sports RD & BodPod

  • So, my weight loss has stopped these last few weeks. My fitness level is increasing (bike speed is faster, running is more) but its still bothering me enough that I'm going to see a sports nutritionist (she's an RD, and a triathlete) I have a triathlon in August, an obstacle course 5K in Sept and a duathlon in October so i want to be sure I'm giving my body what it needs while still allowing it to lose weight.

I have all my data on my food intake and calorie out put from the last few weeks that I can bring, as well as the numbers about my weight.

She's going to do a BodPod test (like a water displacement test to measure body mass, lean muscle and fat but with air.) Then I'll have 4 appointments with her over the next 8 weeks, and another BodPod at the end.

Anyone ever done this? Did you see improvements in the numbers? Was anyone ever helped by a nutritionist to make tweaks to your diet?
  • So I saw her... Told me to give up wheat thins for better carbs, eat more veggies, etc.

Then told me to eat about 1650 per day, which I've been doing, and gave me a meal plan to follow.

I plugged a sample day in to my tracker - it has 1170 calories. Um, okay.

And more sugar than she wanted me to eat - since I had an apple and an orange in there.

I think I now remember why I don't visit nutritionists.

But I'll up the veggies, swap out the Wheat Thins for some brown rice or something, and see what happens.

    Bod Pod is on Monday.
  • How'd you find her? I've been looking for someone to go to, but can't seem to find anything.

I googled "Sports nutritionist [my area]".
  • That's a good idea. I might have to look into it for the Vegas area.
