I just got my fitbit a few days ago but I'm still tracking my food through LoseIt. I just like their app better. I am trying to stick to my fitbit recommended calories though and the last three days they've been ranging from 900-1100 and frankly I feel it's a little low. LoseIt still has me at around 1200. 900 is really hard for me to stick to but I'm trying because I've been at a plateau with LoseIt for almost 3 weeks which is part of why I bought the fitbit in the first place. Apparently I need to be moving more to get more calories but between housework and keeping up with 4 kids you'd think I'd burn enough to eat normally.. guess not.

900 is way too low -- not sustainable for anyone! Something is definitely off with your settings or something! Have you asked questions on the Fitbit forum? I'm sure there is something that needs to be adjusted.

My Fitbit seems to give me a realistic calorie goal. I'm usually eating around 1900 or 2000 (I'm pretty active, though -- 15,000 to 20,000 steps a day lately).

I love my FitBit! I have had it for almost 4 months now and mostly just use it for the step count to gauge my activity for the day. I don't really like the website's food & activity logger, so I went back to WW meetings for that accountability.

Glad to see people on here enjoy it.. I've thought of getting one to track steps/sleep. I take it everyone here would recommend buying one? I take my dog on walks but I don't really know how many calories burned/miles gone I've done and would like to know this to challenge myself to go further!

I am really glad I bought mine

The fitbit has been a huge motivator for me to keep moving, even if I can't make it to the gym. The last 2 weeks have been big food events (NCAA party and Easter) that would normally have sent me off the rails forever, but with Lose It and Fitbit working together, I can see that even a day of bad eating is not enough to ruin everything I've done.

i've just recently got my fitbit, and i'm new to calorie counting. i'm trying to figure everything out. i know that i probably shouldn't have a calorie deficit so high, but i've been ranging in the 1,500 to almost 2,000 range :O i realize that it's too high. last week i added in the gym, and that was also the time i was at a 2,000+ calorie deficit. i know i didn't eat enough, so i upped my calories. i use myfitnesspal to track my foods as well as my exercise (it syncs to my fitbit) and today, i've eaten a total of 1,461 calories and it says that i have burned 3,026 calories with a deficit of 1,565. i can't for the life of me think my calories burned is correct. i did a 2 mile walk with my dog this morning and 45 minutes of straight circuit training, burning a total of 870 calories through exercise (though i have to think myfitnesspal is over-estimating my circuit training calories. my walk calories is correct, as i track it on my gps). i also checked my BMR on a BMR calculator, and it's showing i have a BMR of 1,840. am i doing too much exercise? should i up my calories? i already eat 6 times a day, so how do i up calories when i'm honestly full when i usually hit about the 1300 calorie mark? any help would be greatly appreciated, because i feel so lost! lol

I love my Fit Bit!

I do love my FitBit! There are some things that I have problems with though. My step count is waaaayyyy off. I don't know why. And if I ride in my husband's jeep, then the stair counter goes crazy. A half hour drive will return a 23 stair case count. I am hoping to get the step counter adjusted. I know there is a setting in there somewhere for that. Then maybe I will have a more realistic calorie goal. Right now it tells me about 2100 calories a day. That is outrageous! I work in an office, and sit on my butt there for about 11 hours a day. I try to stay around 1400 - 1500, and that works better for me.

I ignore my calories burned. I don't "eat back" any calories. I just consider those extra calories a weightloss bonus.
